aaah I’m so glad we’ve gotten to the second volume now here’s where things pick up!!! (also, my favorite scenes and probably the sweetest sex scenes I’ve ever read)

That being said, wasn’t there supposed to be a page before the one where ryouhei tells Tada-san that he and shuuichi were classmates? where he’s like “uh actually this isn’t the first time I’ve met hayakawa”

...ume-san aren’t you just bi

ok..first of all it feels like its been forever since we've had such a long chapter,, bless,,

second, holy crap yuiji was so cool this chapter, and he did what all of us have been itching to do this entire time!! bless you sweet child i love you

third,, oho looks like someone might be catching feelings~ and i don't mean that first year. i dont trust him yet, not at all. putting that matter aside, damn do i love cinematic parallels...haha yamato being sort of terrified that he might just be falling for his best(?) friend hurts me but also. also just the sheer possibility of it!!! is out now in print!!! im fine with either end so long as the both of them remain in each other's lives and are /happy/ but i would be lying (like yamato) if i were to say i wasnt 10000% behind this ship

damn horikoshi is pulling out all the stops on the Icarus metaphor, though I hadn’t expected it to be endeavor instead of hawk......makes sense though - he’s flying high right now (quite literally, too, but in the sense that he’s #1 and and is also trying to turn his life around) and while the wings he’s riding on (again, quite literally) are on fire I doubt that would be enough to cause him to Fall - so who’s going to be the sun and its heat that brings him crashing down?

I’ve been keeping up with this since the serialization officially started and while my Japanese is decent and it’s a great practice opportunity, there’s also like no one around to talk about it to so now hopefully it’ll start getting a fan base

that being said, g o d s it’s only been like a couple of months but wow I forgotten what a dumbass tatsuki is, too bad tho he’s already my son!!

Dunno if the scanlation team will see this but http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/jou_sama_no_roommate/uu/jou_sama_no_roommate-chapter-3.5/29/ should be “this sucks” or “that was the worst/terrible” something along those lines, according to the raws

高 and 悪 are preeeetty different (I mean, they are antonyms...)

    Ryoko Nicole April 13, 2018 1:30 pm

    Hi,

It would preeeeetty much be more helpful if you emailed us these things or messaged us on tumblr.

Also, if you’re a translator or are an N3 or higher, instead of picking at mistakes, why not offer yourself as a JP Proofreader? If you’re neither, then maybe reading the raws would suit you better so that you won’t have to bear with our mistakes.

Did that line change the story completely & utterly?

We aren’t here to be graded. We do this for free, and with our own time & money. If 80%+ of the translation is on par for ANY scanlation group, shouldn’t that be enough for readers who only have raws which they have NO idea what they say?

No scanlation group is perfect; we do what we can.

If our translations don’t meet you or other readers standards, or there is a blip.... that’s unfortunate. I have no problem whatsoever being alerted to that, but in this manner? Tsk.

People make errors & mistakes naturally~~it happens.

We hope others still enjoy this story & others, and if some translation mistakes deter readers from continuing with this story & others, so be it.

I hope you have a blessed day! ^_^

Wow that was a surprisingly harsh response... I mean, I didn't think salvx was being rude or nit-picky. Isn't it good if translation teams know about a mistake so they can not make it again going forward? If nothing else, I as a reader really appreciated knowing the correct translation of that line. :) And I also appreciate all the hard work of translation teams SOOO much! ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

"If our translations don’t meet you or other readers standards, or there is a blip.... that’s unfortunate. I have no problem whatsoever being alerted to that, but in this manner? Tsk." what manner exactly? op literally just commented here probably not thinking that you'll see it. the comment was constructive. we appreciate your works but no need to be rude to someone who was just trying to help.

    Ryoko Nicole April 13, 2018 9:36 pm

“高 and 悪 are preeeetty different (I mean, they are antonyms...)“ is not constructive & actually comes off as mocking.

Like I said in my previous statement, I don’t mind ANYONE coming & letting us know if there’s a mistake that was made. But we clearly have an email & a tumblr for communication. Several groups make it clear on their credit pages that if there are errors to reach out to them personally, too. This isn’t something new.

Wouldn’t you think that’s more considerate?

Would you like your professor or manager posting an error/mistake publicly on the bulletin board? Or would you prefer them to pull you to the side & let you know?

And if i hadn’t been alerted to the message, it would’ve been lost in the sea of comments, so how would it have helped us correct it?

So I will reiterate, I have no problem & I welcome construction criticism or pointing out errors~~it would’ve been more considerate to have messaged us personally.

    Regards,

    Ryoko Nicole

    Ryoko Nicole April 13, 2018 9:44 pm

    For clarification:

“preeeetty different (I mean, they are antonyms...)”

    This wasn’t constructive.

    Everything else was fine.

    Ryoko Nicole April 13, 2018 10:03 pm

You all may think I sound harsh, but I’m not. There have been translators in the past that have quit scanlation groups b/c they are sensitive to comments left by readers. & it’s hard to find translators too.

You can’t control what others say in regards to your one post. How about if some other reader had started being ugly about the mistranslation? & it escalates. & my translator were to see it?

I’m not making up scenarios...this has happened in the scan community. That is why I responded how I did.

& that is why I pointed out consideration as well.

    Sincerely,

    Ryoko Nicole

    SRW April 13, 2018 11:14 pm

I agree that if I were a translator, I would certainly be sensitive to critiques and corrections (especially b/c I'm a sensitive person when it comes to those things). But I also think that your response was much harsher than what the situation called for and came off quite unprofessional.

And to use your example of a professor posting one's errors in a public place, I think it would be a mistake on the part of a professor to let students believe in incorrect information purported by another student rather than correct it. The ideal situation would be disseminating the correct information without publically humiliating the individual who made the initial mistake. Perhaps a private email would have ideal for the translation team, but I as a reader really appreciated seeing the correction so that I knew the proper translation of that phrase. And it's not like the specific translator was singled out and ridiculed. Sure, perhaps the phrasing of the original post could have been a little bit better, but it also wasn't nearly bad enough to necessitate such a harsh response.

    Anonymous April 14, 2018 9:47 am

Wow....you guys. You do realize the translators do this for free? And that they don't have to translate this. Nor do they have to post this where everyone can read it. I think you guys are being harsh to the translator in this case. If the OP had left it at just the first part, I'd say there was nothing wrong with the post. Although a PM would have been better for all the reasons the scanlator previously posted (wouldn't embarrass the translator, and wouldn't get lost in all the posts). But then they add on that last part, which to me came off a bit sarcastic and "I'm better than you" know it all. If they are that much better at translating, then why don't they offer their services? Also, if you think the scanlator's response was rude...lol...you ain't seen nothing. One group I follow basically told everyone that they don't have to read any of their translations if they don't like the work they do. So this person's response was actually pretty diplomatic, IMO.

    Hi SRW,

This isn't a job; neither are any scan groups required to be "professional." Many scan groups have told readers to "F*ck off" before several times, and phrases similar to that. I did nothing close to that. Also, because we are in scan groups we have to sugar coat how we feel and pad what we say? The readers don't; why are we held to different standards?

I do not believe my comment was "harsh" in any shape or form. It was direct, candid, and unwavering. It's not just about "sensitivity" about critiques, it was the manner in which it was said, (the last sentence which was unneeded) and then the forum.

Furthermore, I never said my specific translator was singled out. I never said I didn't appreciate the correction.

    Simply putting~~~

"Dunno if the scanlation team will see this but http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/jou_sama_no_roommate/uu/jou_sama_no_roommate-chapter-3.5/29/ should be “this sucks” or “that was the worst/terrible” something along those lines, according to the raws"

WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH; I would've said thank you for the heads up, and asked if we could have been emailed or messaged privately next time so we can fix it and see if the site will replace it.

    ((((Adding))))

"高 and 悪 are preeeetty different (I mean, they are antonyms...)"

Was mocking and RUDE...>>>>>>therefore, my response was parallel & a reflection to that comment. ~~~

    Sincerely,

aah anonymous’s monologue really hit home for me since I’m also ace and possibly?aro and since kamatani-sensei is, also, aroace (they came out on Twitter in 2012 as nb/x-gender and asexual; in Japan, asexual = aroace while nonsexual = romantic ace) they seriously know what they’re talking about....if anything this is probably them projecting themself into the manga

stories like this are sO valuable I’m glad we’re getting to see it like this

    wooosh March 2, 2018 1:22 pm

Yeah! and since this is getting publishing in Spain, France and Italy maybe people would come to know more about LGTBI+ and ace. This manga should be mandatory as reading material in schools, really.

    mickie March 3, 2018 1:25 am

Oh is that how it is in Japan? That ace means aroace because here in the U.S. the two are obv very different. Huh, I learn new things every day

salvx January 7, 2018 9:44 am

Wow...like this it’s hard to choose who I like more...the deceptively gentle and suprprisingly aggressive mito-san or the genuinely kind and gentle shizuma...what to do what to do...

This is...better than I expected I’m very pleasantly surprised by the actual skating stuff being incorporated...though I’m seeing lots of typos and misused/mistaken terminology so that...needs working on

moving on, I found it hilarious that not having a partner was such a concern...like, girl, if you’re good enough to attract an international competitor but have a trash partner just dump him, ask for a better one, if your fed won’t do that then dump them and global, it’s obvious she got the connections

also I love the best friend...I just. I will love any girl willing to stab the main guy for hurting the mc lmaoo

i love how minsuk goes from "yeah that ass is mine" to "is this real" to "what time does this bitch think it is" to "what"
