The mom did accept the relationship. It wasn't just abruptly said, it was more subtle.
When the mom saw Chihiro outside the house before going to work, she told him to take a blanket to cover themselves so they don't catch a cold.
It was very sweet, I love the way the author didn't just spit facts through the dialogues, but implied everything in the actions of the protagonists and the art itself.
BEAUTIFUL.

Okay, seriously, the art is really nice and the story was pretty interesting; but well, what the actual fuck??? I mean.... Wait, what do I actually mean? The lion sex and hedgehog sex that's it, I don't understand how I feel about that. It was as weird as funny, gross but the context made it touching somehow, then weird again.... The only thing I know is that I don't know anymore. I'm confused.

By all those bad reactions, i actually really loved this story. Because humans are not THAT simple, and i gotta say the other books based on very Manichean actions/reactions are incredibly boring compared to this one. Humans emotions ARE complicated, and we humans are never totally white are totally black. We often fuck shits up and take bad decisions, have wrong reactions, misunderstand obvious things and get happy or mad at literally nothing. That book was awesome and if anything was wrong, maybe aaaall the characters were too sweet.
Hahaha that's the spirit, manager
