That is because he is traumatized from his own life. He was always poor and i'm Sure He was only just surviving/living for grandmother before meeting jjk. He never had an easy life and his only emotional pillar/support System was his grandmother.
He is grateful towards jjk bc He helped him out while the others were straight up mean toward him. His old workplace where He was wrongly fired. His debt collectors chasing and threatening him.
For him jjk was his saviour. He helped him out with the debt, paid for grandmothers Hospitals Bill and Upgraded her treatment. He was also nice toward his grandmother.
If this Incident didnt happened He would have stayed with him, no matter how jjk would have Treated him. He ran away bc He thinks He is a hindrance to jjk. Not because he was fed up with the situationship.

seeing how the chibi is drawn, i think it's the same artist but the artstyle definitely shifted. either the artist is lazy (aka, didn't like the project too much) or they were drawing it very quickly.
