My guess is, mc and no were friends in hs. Their relationship was maybe suggestive, and going in the right direction but no one has confessed their feelings yet, it’s just that teenage awkward love stage.
Ml’s step(?) brother that passed, had an inappropriate interest in ml, and led to a forced kiss where mc saw (misunderstood??) and flipped out? Bc we saw a flashback(?) where mc was beating up the brother, unless it was a dream but idk.
Basically, my guess is the brother is the one that threw a wrench into their relationship and that the next year, ml maybe moved schools or stopped going bc his career started to hit it off.
