I was NOT expecting that last scene omg??
The story is getting kinda interesting now. I wanna see where it goes!!
I just hope the author doesn't rush it or use the usual cringy tropes though, since it absolutely ruins the ambience and the tension created....

I feel like chapter 5 reveals a lot about the general's characteristics
He is most definitely abusive, but at the same time he is one of the few people who is teaching the MC valuable things to survive in the battlefield
His orders do try to ensure safety, and I feel like he most probably is the type to prioritise winning the war.
He's basically ready to sacrifice nearly everything to do so, which is why that scene with the skeletons latching onto him becomes so crucial
He is fine with being resented or cursed at as long as it means he can survive another day to bring home victory

Or maybe I read too much into it at 3am

Too bad he beats the shit out of her when she makes the smallest of mistakes or tries to think for herself

    Exactly my point
It's like that one superior who you want to hate so bad but then again he's one of the few people who is going to help u survive in the battlefield

That's what makes me like the story though, it makes war seem realistic

Like the difference with how the mc was taught "shield"
The doctor lady, who's life isn't constantly the line by being on the battlefield and only dealing with the aftermath, taught MC the basics of a shield that should work normally
But the supervisor taught MC how to practically and realistically use it in the battlefield. Small/reckless actions could easily spell death.
    Difference in situational knowledge

I feel like the shoved a shit ton of the usual cringy tropes at the start of the season
1. The unnecessary complications of the demonic rift that no one apart from the FL can close
2. The random romance between FL and Cass. I personally hate this the most because they're nearly had zero encounters that were romantic and I have no clue how Cass fell in love so suddenly, especially when he was portrayed as such a cold and calculating character. Like it literally goes against the character itself??
3. The FL fainting everytime she uses her powers... I am so damn tired of this trope yk. Like she's supposed to be powerful but exerting even a tiny bit will cause her to faint like a damsel in distress
4. The fact that there's a fucking rift endangering human lives and that it can only be closed by the FL but of course no one will allow her to go and close it because they prioritise her safety more than the entire country or city. Like make it make sense??? They're supposed to be the leaders of their respective jobs and yet they cannot think rationally and utilise people when necessary all because they have a childish crush on a woman who doesn't even see them as love interestz

Nah if this continues I'm dropping this, it's getting ridiculously predictable and cringe

I like the era it's set in and till now I love the NC and his companions as well
I'll definitely stick around to see how it turns out
Have high hopes for this!

I was genuinely touched by this.
As someone whose grandfather had Parkinson's disease as well, I could really feel the 2nd last chapter
It's so true as to how badly it affected the person. Same goes for dementia as well

This was informative for sure but most of all, it pulled on heartstrings. It showed how people work and how aging is. Aging is often shown to be scary, and for the most part it is, but this showed it could also be something that makes you appreciate the present much more.

Everyone, get ready for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Dude the MC with glasses is so fucking annoying to me. She doesn't have enough power to take a stand for herself, yet she shoves herself into others' buisness.

i think she’s supposed to be the smart one maybe would play a strategist role in the coming chapters? although she doesn’t seem smart when she’s fighting

I love this story a lot but I do have trouble understanding the power divisions of their world honestly
Because they've introduced several species till now, starting from witches and mages to dragons and beasts
But precisely because of that I have several questions

1. A dragon is said to be nearly impossible to summon, and even a mere limb that the archmage summoned, annhilated entire enemy forces.
So technically isn't the dragon the strongest? Since witches and their descendants seem to be present nearly everywhere

2. How strong are the elementals? We saw Ashaf say that the primordial elementals hold as much power as the witches of the origins, so how did the Commander of the Paladins, lose despite having contracted such an elemental?

3. Archmages haven't been shown that much, but from whatever we've seen, they hold tremendous power, and one can even summon a part of a dragon. If they're so grossly powerful then why not summon them to help tackle enemy forces like the witches?
Now I know that we've been told they act on their own will, but despite all their goals remain united

4. The main and final question. What is it that truly make the witches so powerful? Are they even actually powerful? Because they seem to be defeated a lot of the times (the descendants) and sometimes even the original witches meet their matches. So why do they put them on this pedestal
AND FINALLY, WHY IS EVERYONE SO OPPOSED TO WITCHES WHEN THERE ARE SEVERAL WHO ARE IN FOR OF THE HUMANS?
And wasn't it a witch who sealed away the demon sword so that it doesn't kill recklessly??
So then why is everyone against the entire kin of witches?

See i read the story at like 2 am so I may have missed a few details here and there

These are great questions and honestly many I've been wondering myself! below are all entirely just my interpretation/thoughts of the series so far so please let me know if u have a diff opinion I love talking about this type of thing (^-^)❀

#1 I do agree, it seems dragons are like the highest power?

#2 it seems with the wording in the series elementals themselves are as powerful as some witches, and they LEND their power so maybe ones ability to handle or access that power limits its actual strength? since we see Matt sacrifice an arm for MORE power bestowed by the elemental (temporarily??)

#3 we've only really vaguely met an archmage so I get the impression someone that powerful won't JUST follow orders? like maybe they have very strong personal motivations/arrogance to feel they're "above" fighting any witch? dunno kinda stumped on this one tbh

#4 just my personal interpretation, but I got the impression a "witch" or the aspect of a witch is similar to like say Sharks, society and media have played up sharks and shark attacks to the point of creating this deep rooted fear that isn't based on lies but isn't necessary fully true. not all sharks will attack you, same with the witches like you pointed out. but that doesn't stop humans from having some instinctive fear of them and either lashing out in fear of the uknown of a witch and the possibility of being attacked.

it does seem like some witches are VERY powerful so ppl having having bad experiences helps perpetuate that phobia towards them. Plus I bet the executioners don't help, they want to create an atmosphere of fear n hatreds towards witches so they can continue to have excuses to hunt and kill them.
