This is like someone took a bunch of fairy tales, a bit of myth, and who knows what else, put them in a mixing pot, gave it a good stir, and then served it on yaoi. Not that I mind. In fact I think I prefer it. Whether or not this story is true to any of its source material doesn't matter, so one can simply enjoy it.

There were things that were both good and bad about this story. On the one had there was an effort to give the characters depth and context. I also liked that it clearly several times showed the uke saying stop but meaning quite the opposite, raising a thorny issue. We don't always say what we really mean, especially when it comes to sex (or food).

On the other hand, that other kidnap and rape plotline seemed unnecessary. Certainly was a low point of the manga. Cliché to the least, and as usual of course no one calls the police on what is obviously two twisted and criminally inclined people, no matter their motives. I would have accepted the lack of police if it had been made clear that the uke didn't want the media attention.

Overall though still worth reading.

While it's only the first chapter and early days yet, it looks promising. I like how this manga took the AV setting and gave it some depth.

I can't tell you how happy I was to see there was an update. I agree with the various comments about the girl, though I find that Xiao An would have forgotten that much about the incident which was memorable to the least but hardly traumatic not to recall the guys face clearly or name. But that isn't my main question whats up with that other guy that started right after he saw Song Kai drive Xiao An home? Who is he and what's he up to? Bet anything he'll be much more of a problem than sis.

I suppose you can say I'm sort of into this. But I keep having really mixed feelings reading this. I'm so hoping at this point that older bro somehow finds a way to break the weird dynamics of their relationship and put distance between them. Because as things are now ain't good. Younger bro is using anything he can to pressure and force older bro into a sexual relationship he doesn't want and will probably affect older bro's grades. Older bro is so twistedly competitive with younger bro that he will even accept what he knows are fake first places. These two are so not together for the right reasons or in the right way as people, never mind that they are twins. So I'm into this hoping for a good resolution, but will hate it if the story goes the wrong way as I see it.

Well that was a different set up from the norm. And while I can sympathize with the MC for getting a shock to discover his destined one is male and not female, you'd think that after years of observing of how fate always comes true, he'd know better than to think he can just avoid fate. It's like he contradicts what he says in the beginning with what he says at the end. But so very human....Hopefully he won't put up too much of a struggle. A bit is fun, but I think I might tire if he keeps resisting for too many chapters. And Hiro's such a nice guy too.

Koi wa Ina Mono Myouna Mono has done it before

Amberwaves March 29, 2017 11:20 am

Well that was very cute and sweet, though I was surprised by the lack of sex. Still perhaps that is why I ultimately prefer my yaoi without kiddies. It just becomes too cute and fluffy in most cases, and hard to mix the smex in without losing the mood, or making the smex cute as well. Odd thing is I think this manga could have pulled it off, especially in the middle of the story.

Well, I think that the alpha will soon discover that life is what happens while you're making other plans.

But I still wonder at the logic of this kind of omegaverse. If women exist why would omegas (and the rest) even evolve? As I understood it, it was an evolutionary response to a lack of women. Or have I seriously misunderstood something?

    blackie March 24, 2017 3:06 am

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing.
I saw another omegaverse manga where a God created omegas to be able to give birth to beastmen, and the beastmen were rare and treated as nobility (omegas were basically treated as breeding stock though - not much new there).

Anyway, that comic seemed to cover the "why" of the omegaverse (at least for its OWN story)

    Dhampyre March 24, 2017 12:32 pm

If you actually read the original information for 'Omegaverses' it actually explains that there are females as well. Not just a male driven society, given from the personality archetypes. However, like many yaoi stories omegaverse females seem non existent.

well, it's yaoi for a reason.

"As I understood it, it was an evolutionary response to a lack of women. "

No that is not the general gist of it. I've not met one manga that explained it that way. Most of them explained it that alphas, omegas and betas are just how it is from the past, not because of any evolution. For example, it existed from the creation of humans. It's not something that cropped out from a need, the earth was simply born that way from the start(in most if not all mangas).

I've met fanfiction that has said it that way tho. Omegas and alphas are just creations an AU(alternate universe) where fans/writers/artists can get the boys pregnant or they like the alpha/omega dynamic. Fated partners as such. There are also such things as omega females and alpha females. It is not only for males.

So 'evolutionary response to lack of a woman' might have been ONE author's reason for alphas and omegas but you should not use the idea for all mangas you read, not everyone has the same thinking and it seems most generally do not have that thinking.

    Amberwaves March 24, 2017 6:29 pm

What I read was somewhat unclear as to origin but did imply an evolutionary response to a crisis. It also seemed that in "pure" (I'm not sure how to term it) omegaverse, while there were some with outer female characteristics and others had more male appearance, the importance was the plumbing, so to speak. The difference between genders in omegaverse being less, as most had a womb and penis, though the "females" were able to get pregnant and their penises smaller. But I wouldn't be surprised to find out that that's all wrong.

    Dhampyre March 25, 2017 1:10 am
    well, it's yaoi for a reason. @Anonymous

Actually, Omegaverse was NOT originally just for yaoi. Just a more popular aspect to the setting.

Maybe we can all agree omegaverse is a way to wrap one's head around different sexual orientation and get us less focused on the gender binary we were most likely brought up in by having everyone having a chance at babies. When they say two omegas can't have babies (one I read said that,) we can think of it as a couple who is sterile but still chooses to be with the one they love. There was one I read where an alpha became pregnant. It is all up to the author's interpretation of the rules but each pairing shows a sign of struggle, whether physically or socially.

Are there any manga with female alpha x omega as the main characters (Sex Pistols has some but not really lead characters) or Alpha fem and omega male? There's some fan fiction yuri (I am not interested in yuri though if it's omegaverse it'd be interesting). And also wondered if a key choice of omegaverse would make it easier for fans to find new ones.

I can understand why people are troubled by Sawaki's aggressive advances. But I had a bigger issue with Mizutani's character overall. If you had been the one confessing how hurtful would it be to not only be rejected but to have the person utterly without reason refusing to take you seriously? It is Mizutani's attitude that forces Sawaki to prove he's serious, and since words don't reach actions might.

But do I like Mizutani? Not really. Do I even like Sawaki? Though I find him more sympathetic as a character, not as much as I would wish. Somehow I'm just not feeling these two as well as I should in what is clearly a character driven story.

Amberwaves March 18, 2017 2:25 pm

So happy that this finally updated! Now to recent events. So the reason Akki doesn't do gardening is because of this cousin of his guilt tripping him? And Akki accepting the blame? I suppose that is one reason, though a bit overly dramatic, that the mangaka could come up with for why Akki didn't garden. I'd just supposed it had something to do with his granny's death. And while I can accept the cousin being a twisted jerk blaming someone else for his own bad, I wish for once an MC knew that it was nonsense, but (as in this case) the whole mess had still ruined the pleasure of gardening instead of going "mea culpa" and of course also blaming himself. It would have been that bit less cliché.
