i think the reason why the baby's hair is black is because when he saved the young Duke, he also has black hair. so my theory here is the Duke's genes of having black hair when he is a kid then having a silver one over time once he reach adulthood could've been inherited by the child. just a guess tho i haven't read the novel or what haha

Back then the empress's job was to look after the affairs of the harem and stand next to the emperor as the mother of the nation while the emperor took the role to look after political affairs, warfare, the nation's needs, etc., so she was still ranked lower than the emperor that's why such thing as privacy for the empress didn't matter to the emperor. If he gave the order to look after the empress's chambers to find out about the poison his subjects hadded to follow his orders which meant searching their majesty's chambers under the orders of the emperor and that's why I am not surprised about the whole 'privacy' thing.
