He was killed by the dad to keep the rival group (who the chauffeur had major public issues with since he was very protective of the heir) from actually doing anything against the heir. A sort of 'hey this guy died and everyone knows you didn't get along so it must have been you, so put another toe out of line and all hell will break loose' sort of thing. (hope this helps explain it)
