i remember reading a scene where she was waiting for him to come home after it was announced he was finished with his expedition... she and I think either his parents or the butler expected him to come home first knowing how smitten he was with her but and she didn't really give it another though she didn't act super happy or excited she was like yeah he is like that.... but she waited and waited then it was dark it turns out he went to the captial/ idk the palace maybe to report first and then the homecoming banquet... they were confused since they thought he would rush home and take her with him......

I just finished the anime and I am so mad with the ending … praying for a season 2 . I did wish setsu would have told his mother off. Or heck I would have liked to see the bro do it. With Kaito gong back to soccer I guess I could see why a season 2 might get not happen but the manga is apparently 26 volumes

Sawamura is continues to developed his sound.... he doing okay but he kinda reached a wall again.. he goes to his father for guidance despite hating the man... the dad then starts totrain him and sawamura stats to lean from actually teach while practicing with his ultimate rival the father' adopted son Souichi.
The friend goes back into soccer, with his injury he doesn't get really far but it was enough to give him closure and he find out that his passion for music is stronger so it will be his journey back to the club...
THe club loses two crucial member (sawamura in training and kaito to soccer) but they don't give up, the club starts to practice to reach the level of sawamua (being motivation by the performance last season) and said they wont hold him back anymore so when he is back he can have a place for his sound.... also they have new member since ppl heard their performance and was interested... and get a temporary teacher (its the famous player that the teacher is in love with).....
The mother becomes the small antagonist of the second season..she gives up on Sawamura and deems him unworthy of of inheriting the grandfather's sound so she find and trains another genius..... (it either someone who started playing just recently but is super good somehow or her son that she has been raising in private) the boy becomes a new rival to sawamura and his mother would ty to pit her new desciple on him...
This again causes him to have a minor breakdown from hearing a stranger being able to play his grandfather sound when he couldn't even produce it.. The boy had a super dark past that resemble the grandfather's hardship and he doesn't care about the sound he just does it for the money that Umeko pays his... (his grandfather started playing for money as well) He plays the grandfathers sound in such a dark and depressing way that sawamura gets mad thinking that is not the sound of his grandfather and then strives to defeat him....
Ends with him being able to produce his own sound....truly his and despite beinghis sund it also feels like the songs grandpa used to play and makes everyone feels the same as if they were listening to the grandpa playing and that is because they both reach.... Lol Idk Music Enlightenment Pwahahaha that is my guess on what will happen
