I didn't read the novel... but I feel like he was horribly verbally abusive and cruel.. controlling. But remind me if I'm wrong, he never was physical with her and he was hateful, but also tried to have things the way she liked? Am I wrong? If I'm not, and that is NOT ok, but I have read WAY worse abusive stories where there is some kind of redemption arc. To be honest, had to quit reading those, it's just black clouds filling up my brain, but this one didn't last long and he said a lot of mean things, but I feel that is the worst of it. I'm not minimizing, I am equating. But also, I was truly asking a question about what all abuse she suffered because I said what I personally remembered. I am not minimizing a characters fictional pain by asking this question. But I will say speaking cruelly is not the same as stabbing them. Get my point? She was shot because of politics, because of what her father had done and she was hated. She tried to kill herself once she saw the cruel things her father had done up close and personal, and she was already beaten down and abused emotionally by her husband.

Shouldn't there be more talk about what it means for grandpa to 'live'? How long? How is he alive? Is he able to walk around and live a normal life or is he lying on a bed just breathing.

I really feel the author is playing with us. haha.. The seme tortures him, humiliates him, cheats on him, leaves him blind and crippled and then with one sentence of clarification he's upset he wasn't given a chance to say 'sowwy'. To me the emperor will never be redeemable.. He'd have to go through lakes of turds with open wounds carrying the mc over his head for me to consider forgiving him. :) He was beyond cruel and abusive.
I also need to see the MC's sister punished and tossed out. She was allowed to do all the cruel stuff and the emperor knew she was out of hand and still showered her with gifts.
