I think he turned back into a kid for the closure to heal his inner child because he had a lot of trauma (getting abused and nearly dying so many times as a kid) especially before he met our MC.

i was keeping up with this back when the unofficials were first coming out and finished it the first time around. haven’t come back to it until now and wow it’s better than i remember. the proportions aren’t even bad so idk why some nerds on tt are saying that, there’s actual good development, and 90% of the time no one does anything overly stupid; everyone is reasonable and the author was great at portraying emotion.
