I'm already impress that author subverted expectations with the title but I kinda want them to have a child by the end but prob not a good time now since his father still alive and being an asshole. Out of all the MXTX works, this one is my comfort book. (I say this as if HuaLian and any other characters didn't go through so much XD). Not only do I love that Huacheng and Xie Lian are both friends and partners, communication easily comes to them which make sense since they're like 800+ year old entities.
Also as much as we have the political and social themes like war, classissm, poverty, etc. (which are obv important) this is the MXTX book that has the romance between the two MCs at the forefront and I love that.
