Anime - Doraemon. I also didn't know what anime was at that time.
(And I saw a lot of it too. Ninja Hatori, Kiteretsu and such, but dubbed in spanish with subtitles in portuguese. For a long time I thought it was Spanish cartoons (￣∇￣") ).
I was around 6 or 7 years old, and I always saw a episode in the morning before going to school.
