The story is just tragic. Not because the ML lost his wife and kids in a car crash.
But more so the FL still thinking pursuing a relationship with Rome was a good idea despite the obvious reality that he will never love her to the extent he loved Diane.
He uses Sarah for sex, treats her like crap.
He looks miserable on his wedding day to Sarah compared to how happy and joyous he was with Diane and even keeps thinking about Diane ON DAY HE IS MARRYING ANOTHER WOMAN THINKING - "my wedding to Diane was the happiest day of my life".
What a shithead.
This makes the FL feel worthless like shit because his real feelings are so obvious.
He even refuses to sleep in the same bedroom as her AFTER they are married.
Ffs how many more red flags do you need?
Compares her constantly to Diane and like a sulking brat purposely ignores her throughout her pregnancy because he wanted her to have an abortion. Sorry, even strangers are more courteous to pregnant women when they see they are struggling with heavy lifting. This is how much of a piece of shit this Rome guy is.
As a commenter said on Bato.to this guy doesn't need another wife he needs a therapist.
And even in the end, you wonder if he actually does love the FL. I personally think he doesn't and only got with her because he was lonely and felt responsible taking her virginity.
Since throughout the entire story the one he is still fixated on is his deceased wife he only went back to her side because he felt guilty remembering how he treated Diane so much better when she was pregnant. See? it ALWAYS goes back to Diane.
Diane this Diane that etc. ffs, who could live with such a toxic person?
The FL would be better off raising the kid alone and getting a divorce.
I say this as someone who think raising a child as a single parent should be avoided.
However, in this case its the lesser evil. It's partly her fault for marrying a man-child that will never reciprocate her feelings, shows her little respect and treats her like rubbish.
He's so confused. At first he said that he always loved only Diane and suddenly he started saying that he always loved Sarah... Unfortunately she will live in the shadow of his ex wife （￣へ￣）

Thank you so much for your commentary, I will avoid reading this, what a sad story! Yes this Rome guy is a total trash, but since Sarah was in love with him since a long time ago, she might suffer from love dependancy too, hence can't leave the egotistic and negligent man.
When he found out she was pregnant he straight away told her to have an abortion and acted as if she didn't exist for the rest of the pregnancy like a sulking child. Not helping her with anything even when she was struggling carrying bags and heavy lifting he didn't care when confronted by one of her friends that he should help her.
He is that much of a bastard.
He only finds out she is about she is giving birth when her friend tells him AND then he goes on about "diane diane diane...(he so fucking annoying). And thought because Diane gave birth exactly on her due date it would be the same for the FL and wonders why she is different lol. He only goes to her because he feels guilty remembering how he treated Diane like a Queen when she pregnant and took even time off work to stay by her side during the pregnancy (see? always comes back to his first marriage). Whereas, the FL she was on her own and treaty her coldly. She had NO help from him. So it was out of pity and guilt he came back. And when the baby is the first thing he thinks is ("Justin, Sean you have a sister"). He still hasn't let go of his first marriage. Sarah and Missy will always be second best if they are lucky.

Again, you gave a remarquable and sincere review about this terrible story, I feel no regrets to not spend an hour to understand it. You know, this plot is so terrible that it even makes me hate my own name because my name's Diane :'( And this is the first time I feel that way.
I honestly don't know why an author would write such sad story beside making the readers frustrated and angry. Yeah, that guy is one of the worst kinds, she should throw him away like the trash he is from day one, or at least when he told her to have an abortion. To behave like that he never loved her nor care for her as an human being, he's a disguting, little man that should be left alone for the rest of his life, this is what he deserves. I doubt this is the wish and will of any woman to be second best.
That's the thing. She isn't even worthy enough to be second best in his eyes.
He treats her way beneath that.
That's what makes this even more tragic. She and her daughter would be LUCKY if they even make it to second best.
The ending felt too anti-climatic.
The bitch Luisa throws a birthday party for the ML without telling the FL to publicly humiliate her. AND then when things don't go her way she shoves the FL causing her to fall down some stairs and have a misscarriage.
And we ends things with her expressing her "guilt" by sending some shitty boquet to the FL to apologise for her loss. LOL...bitch should of been in handcuffs or atleast get a restraining order.
She caused you to lose your baby. Abortion is illegal in Brazil, so I'm sure she could of been arrested for assault alone. Yet, you think you can live "happily" next to the psycho that shoved you and caused you lose what would of been your first born? fuck no.

Reminds me of that god-awful Chantelle Shaw manga "The Spanish Duke's Virgin Bride," where the jealous teen lied to the pregnant wife about the Duke taking their child and then kicking her out. Wife leaves and loses her unborn baby in a car accident. Duke (who cries over his injured dog earlier) then scolds the teenager.

Was an utter pos.
1. He manipulates his brother's grieving pregnant girlfriend into thinking his brother was dead to marry him instead.
2. refuses to relinquish custody of the ML not out of affection for the child but pettiness to spite his brother and his ex-wife. This meant the ML never got to spend any time with his real father or even meet him.
3. Tries to screw over his brother's son in the will of his rightful title of Earl and inheritance out of spite. Despite everyone being aware that his own son isn't fit for the role.
And the "mother" was part to blame for making little effort to retrieve her son from the Earl whom resented him.
Whom not only usurped his brother's title but tried to screw over his brother's son out of pettiness in the will.
The only decent parent out of all of this was the stepmother.
