So like new reader here I finished the first five chapters and loved it. I read the Scanslations/Authors note at the end describing our MC and Im like still confused can like someone help explain to me whats wrong with our mc (not like wrong like why is he so fat but like whats the deal with him and like I don’t understand the reason for like him going to the virtual world and his consumption of food and like binge eating and why theres no ouking and what not) Plus like is like eating virtual food satisfying his urge to eat or something like you can taste virtual food but doesnt do anything to your body?? like still kinda confused and I reread stuff and I still dont get it so please help

He has a eating disorder called bulimia(?) and i think it give him the urge to eat nonstop thats why he became fat. He try really hard to get back to what he used to be but non is working so his doctor recommended him to use the virtual game to satisfy his hunger without eating in real life
I'll try to explain, though remember I am no professional. (Sorry this is a bit long. Since it seems you are confused despite reading so many times, I hope this explanation clears things up and helps you to enjoy the story more!)
It seems in his case, he has a bottomless pit stomach that can never be satisfied. He doesn't really ever feel full psychologically. He seems to be in a constant state of hunger. This is actually a real thing. There are actually people out there who can keep eating because they really can't feel satisfied and full. It takes training to help your body to learn that the physical feeling of fullness.
In his situation, he seems to really enjoy food and cannot get enough of it. According to the doctor, MC feels discomfort not eating, so eating is probably MC's coping mechanism. Though I don't recall what might be triggering him to do this psychologically. This combined with the fact that he doesn't feel satisfied with the correct amount to fuel a human body makes the situation worse.
With your question about why there is no puking, bulimia does not always mean the person pukes. Bulimia refers to someone who eats excessive amounts of food (which the MC does so in huge quantities) and then tries to get rid of the calories by performing extreme actions (which can be puking, but not necessarily so). MC's extreme actions in the story is performing excessive exercise and doing very strict diet (eating just salads and cherry tomatoes) to get purge those extra calories.
Now onto the last point. Why are they putting him into a virtual world to treat him? Well, eating disorders is not only a physical problem, but also a mental one. MC has no self control when it comes to food.
So in order to solve his lack of self control in food intake, the doctor hopes to put him into virtual reality that will allow him to experience the food without actually eating it in real life. This can totally go both ways. It can be good or bad, as the doctor warns. It can help to satisfy MC's food cravings and mental anxiety/uncomfort of not eating. Basically acting as a crutch or coping mechanism in place of real eating. Another good thing about being in the virtual game too, is that he is focused on the game during the day eating virtual food, which takes time away from real life to eat real food.
Thus, the virtual reality is a way for him to move away from eating in real life. It kinda like a replacement to binge eating in real life and helps to fulfill him mentally. (●'◡'●)

I was like super confused when understanding what they put at the end and they mentioned puking and I was like but our MC and like why would he puke but that makes total sense. Honestly though like legit if there was a virtual game that was like you can feel and TASTE virtual food like bruh why wouldnt you. I would be eating in the game too to obtain those foods that you would get in real life but like better. The joy he gets from eating in the game makes me wish the game was real >~<

I really want a happy ending for our mc but I am not sure if that will happen. This seems like a tragic bittersweet ending story, especially with the summary about the story. I can’t remember it entirely but essentially it stated that our MC bloomed when Dowun helped her become empress when she was young and she bloomed again when with the guard, blooming meaning she is turning into somebody she wants to be or grows to be. But the thing is a flower can only bloom once so which time did she actually bloom. Idk it just seems tragic and sad and would have a realistic bittersweet ending than a super happy one. Idk I could just see so many opportunities like the guard dying, our MC becoming empress without Dowun or with him but she is forever chanhed. Or maybe the guard dies and Dowun somehow becomes emperor while our MC somehow leaves and lives her life as a commoner trying to live her life
