This seems to be a classic case of Stockholm syndrome. If you've never heard of it here is the base. Stockholm syndrome is a psychological disorder where someone held captive starts to express sympathy, apathy, and feelings towards their captor/tormentor. It can even go so far as the captive defending and identifying with the captor. I think this here is a good example of that.

Yeah, so that cafe dude is really annoying, the uke is disgusting for sleeping with the cafe guy after getting dumped, but I'm not sorry for the cafe dude, and the story was just so dry over all.
