After reading the bird people's back story, I cant even blame anyone anymore, not even the king or Tilha or the queen.
As they said, bird people's source of life is the concept of freedom. Being a king removed all kinds of freedom except for their right to love anyone they want. I think everyone knows that, even the queen, and they respected that. However, because Tilha got pregnant and due to their customs that the youngest gets the throne, it created a conflict with Sulkin who already saw the throne as his sort of freedom. He also dedicated his life being prepared to take it someday. So being stripped from that freedom so suddenly and losing the only way to make their mother happy, he lose the will to live. Of course, being the mother, she only acted upon her instinct, upon her anger, upon the only way to protect her child (I dont think there is a conflict for the throne here, because most of the bird royals see the throne as restriction to their freedom so I wont say she did that because she wants the throne and power for her children)
Im not saying all of them are innocent or to justify that their action is the right thing to do or to blame anyone for what they did and what it caused. I just hope they will be able to resolve this issue now that the egg was hatched. As for the dead, we cant bring them back anymore, so I hope they and everyone find forgiveness and peace in their heart

If you have read historical story before, its normal for kings to have a more than 1 wife. So with this, we really cant compare them to todays norm.
We have the queen, which the highest and powerful of all the wives and then the concubines. Tilha is supposed to be a concubine, so shes till a legal second wife. As for having children though, we are not sure if the bird kingdom have that some kind of rules for the concubines. But seeing that she got pregnant, I dont think they forbid concubines to have children with the king.
