I think she was just trying to protect her self .the person she loved who was cold to everybody now has a lover and he protects her and that is sometimes scary

Yes. Most likely you are the only one. She wasn't in love, she was obsessed. Love means letting go and being happy for the other, even if they find love with someone else. That woman tried to harm Chloe over and over because she was obsessed with the notion that Alphonse belonged to her. That his love, his emotions, and everything should have been her's, but she never did anything to earn them. She didn't bother to get to know him, so she didn't love Alphonse just his looks and her obsessed idea of him. She "fell in love" with his looks and her imagination, not him.
