I finally caught up; as the chapter i was on previously when i made my last comment was 15. I am conflicted on if i want the ML to be the emperor; though at the end it stays the same. I do not wish for that to happen, but as clichƩs go, he is endgame.
His past is gruesome; though it doesn't justify on how he treated the FL. It does answer on why he was easy to manipulate; and how the mistress took advantage of his past to making him think only she can understand him.
With all of the context ive got till now; the mistress doesn't love the ML at all (as he doesn't love her either). She is abusive mentally; and i hope he can get out of the relationship he has with her.
Her background does nothing to justify on what she did to the ML & her family in the "future" (more as what i call, the past future), how she manipulated the ML, and finally practically everything else. And i do admit; if she had gone about things without such a villainy ways(the one type of villainy i dont like, shes very boring and unlikeable to me) to become queen i would have supported her.
The best ending i would hope for is that the FL gets away from both the ML & the mistress; or some type of way to have peace. even a tragic ending where she dies would be enough for me.
However, what im predicting is that the ML gets better; the mistress is gone some type of way (guilty of crimes or some other reason) and the FL gets to be with the ML romantically. The FL's sister gets to pair with another guy (probably the guy who almost crashed into her carriage) and the duke is guilty of some crime he most likely committed (the thing that the mistress is using as blackmail.). Basically, a "happy" ending.
is there a ML? and if there is please say its not the emperor.
Oh how much I wish it was someone else too I hear he gets better but idk how better he gonna get but I canāt like him but itās depends on the empress happiness.

So, the emperor IS the ML. But a lot of time passes and many events as well. I will tell but proceed carefully.
After Rose is gone, the FL actually tries leaving her empress seat. I don't know exactly the circumstances, but it was her plan all along it seems. Though, it's nearly impossible renouncing as the empress (I believe it has to do with laws and else) unless there's an extreme issue at hand (illness maybe?). The ML persuades her endlessly so she won't abandon it, and he's also doing his best to win her love.
Around chapter 64 of the manhwa (I saw raws he) he's already trying to get closer to her, the FL keeps pushing him aside coldly and it's actually nice to see hehe. Rose's ending is not that far I assume Ł©(ą¹āį“āą¹)Ū¶

I liked the art more than I liked the general stories & characters. I think the villain deserves better as such more character development. She didnāt seem like a fleshed out person, just some girl who failed to use her body to seduce men in power so she opted to murder. She has no personality. I also would have liked different twists as such as maybe the fl being more villainess towards the villain & using her past memories to ātormentā her. Dunno just something different. In the end I canāt say I stayed for anything else other than the art. However, this is all due to preference so if anyone knows any good recommendations based on my complaints please feel welcomed to send them my way!
Adelaide isn't a villainess tho. Wouldn't have fit her to torment susan. And not every villain does need a proper backstory. There surely could've been a backstory to why she's that way but this manhwa is focused on romance and the couple's development.
I hate the top so much, mc deserves better but it seems he only has trauma from other people raping him; not his boyfriend though? it sounds very messed up and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth they really didnt have to make his boyfriend a rapist.
Rape is so common and romantized in BL's that the only time ill get disturbed is when im having a breakdown while reading because 10/10 i do believe i would have not cared all that much if i wasnt upset abt something else & pretended that scene never happened. Rape common enough to the point where in BL's that its the hard truth most people who read mature BL's dont bat an eye to those type of scenes anymore.
Hell, they didnt even put an rape tag or had a warning if my memory is correct; but then i dont have any right to complain since either way i would have continued reading.
