SPOILER
.
I wonder why the brother is looking for her. I've read every available chapter in the novel (everyone translated to English) but I still can't figure it out.
The prince is an imbecile and he realized his mistake so he is acting all wishy-washy and didn't even apologize like the asshole he is and was more like "why didn't you tell me I misunderstood you" or something like that. Basically, he'll continue to be garbage so there's no hope for him.
But the bother, I can't figure out. Her garbage "mother" and "brother" never cared for her and only cared about their reputation and power. She seems terrified and even traumatized because of her brother in the novel so there's no way he is after her because he wants to change and wants to make amends. He either realized how great she is (she has done so many amazing things in the past including saving the forest and making those contracts) and he realized that in her absence, the family would lose all those benefits or he was just like "the prince wants to get her back so I'll look for her as well so she'll be queen and benefit the family"
Chapter 6 is weird at best. I feel ambivalent about the prince, I dislike his character because it's annoying especially for someone of his position who is supposed to be decisive and if he wants to act childish then do it in private at least but also he is a little cute so meh.
I originally posted a comment about the next chapter on here (because I read it on mangadex) but I've deleted it now so I won't be accused of spoiling the story
Is the first part when the 3rd princess gets killed a premonition or a vision ?
And the bitch empress said that the third princess's lover also betrayed her so I wonder if it's the guy the green-haired concubine was jealous of (when he thought that her heart belongs to someone else). So, our boy has nothing to fear since this MC won't fall for that asshole.
Anyway, I wonder how many of these guys will remain as her husbands or concubines at the end ?
I just hope the guys she remains with know that she is someone else and not the princess
I just reread chapter 4 and did he actually try to hook up with a woman after sleeping with the uke ? I get that they just slept together (the uke and the seme) and that it wasn't a commitment but dude, don't you dare act like a victim later when the uke didn't believe your feelings when you literally tried to sleep with a woman right after sleeping with him. I don't mind that consenting adults sleep together with no strings attached but you don't get to do that then wonder why one of the people you slept with/ tried to sleep with doesn't buy your bullshit feelings. You either commit and pursue a person or not commit and don't expect anything from your sexual partner
I dont think its right too. But i kinda understands the seme too. He was kinda confused and didn’t realized yet that he already loves the uke. So it’s really understandable if he went and try to fuck another woman. But it doesn’t go through well, wasn’t it. After that, i dont see any event which can imply he’s still sleeping around after that. Granted there’s a girl coming to take her belongings. But we cant vouch when did she actually come to the seme house to fuck. Like maybe she come before the seme sleep with the uke, right ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
no that scene with the woman looks like it was after the first time they (the seme & uke) did it. as vyomi said, seme hadn't realized his feelings completely until they did it a second time. After that we see seme breaking up with a girl the next day, showing how committed he was ready to be to the uke, if that makes sense (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
I feel like it's become a trend among mangakas to troll us with one fucked up chapter in a one-volume manga. The first time it happened to me years ago, I went back and reread the summary and the tags and the other chapters to figure out the relationship between the main story and this fucked up abomination but then I realised one thing, the answer is: FUCK ALL! it's got nothing to do with it, the chapter exists just to exist in its own bubble of bullshit so just ignore it like it is the mangaka's weird dream and move on with your life
Yeah she is kind. I don't care what anyone else thinks but mercy killing is a thing. That princess would've been raped , tortured , blamed for the king's betrayal or best case scenario if she's exiled without any physical injury then her mental trauma would've made her commit suicide or live like shit for the rest of her life.
There is no scenario in which she would've lived a semi-decent life so yes Ms Khight did her a great favor.
Unfortunately they wouldn't give her that option. As a royal, her or her children could claim the throne eventually. So her choices were either kill herself and avoid suffering or being arrested (maybe even raped in jail), eventually killed and to have her head hang at the gates along her father's to notify the people that their royal family is gone. This is war, so allowing one to avoid suffering is mercy.
But they could have taken her under their wings, that would have been the best option I guess. If I remember correctly Alexander the Great let the family of some defeated opponents live and made them to important allies. So that could have actually worked ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Giving her a titel, some small land, a semi-important job and she could have been pretty useful (and protected by the grace of the new king no one would have touched her).
If she was in her right state of mind, I'd agree that it was her decision but asking a panicking person "hey do you want to get raped and then die or die now?" isn't going to get a proper response. Personally, I think it's mercy especially compared to rape and I insist on rape because it seems casual here seeing as the knight herself was going to get raped if the emperor didn't interfere so for the princess it's not a matter of "if" it's just a matter of which order is she going to get: raped, killed, tortured. She probably pitied the princess as a fellow woman and she ended her right there and then.
If someone is on their death bed then yes I agree it's their decision IF they have the mental capacity to do it and aren't in a coma but this is war and a panicking woman who had no care in the world a couple of hours ago and is now facing death isn't going to give a straight answer so, in my opinion, she is like the vegetable patent in a coma and should be dealt with as mercifully as possible
In this situation of course she's panicking, who would not? But that doesn't mean it's okay to kill her because it's 'the best choice'. There were two ways to show mercy, and the other, nicer, way would be to give her a chance to live, to protect her. And that's what someone with power should do. I don't think Pauliana did wrong, but as a king he could have done more. At least that's what I would have done, I mean she is innocent and there is clearly a good way out of this situation. And no one knows how strong she could have been, there are people with trauma that still can live happy and so something important for the society.
But it's fiction, I know xD
Honestly, I loved this story for a while because it broke the isekai cliché in certain ways like the MC not being loved by everyone and thought of as a traitor and him having to run away and all but now it's back to the bullshit when this female companion of his got involved. Suddenly, the elf appearance cliché, the evil bitch sister and all this crap is too much.
I wanted this story to be somewhere between "cliché god-like MC" and "MC getting killed and taking revenge in the goriest way"....Basically, this looked like it was going to be an MC with great powers who is going to take revenge and work on his own. Isn't that why he left all the other classmates? He didn't bother trying to release the curse or look for a way to convince them or anything like that because he believed being solo from that point on was better but he suddenly got along with this stranger and is even fighting on her behalf? WTF ? where did the cool MC go ? This feels so wishy washy
I think you are interpreting the reason he left every one behind wrong... He left them because, at the time, he wasn't strong enough to go up against the royal family, so he retreated to the labyrinth to get stronger. He knew that he didn't have the power to get rid of everyone curse at that time, so he left. It was not because he wanted to fly solo. He is also not just fighting for the sake of his new companion, if he didn't accept the duel, it would have been a large hindrance to him. You have also misread the MC's personality. He has shown himself to actually be quite kind and caring in situations. Maybe you should try paying more attention to what is going on...
This contains a slight spoiler in paragraph 3 so skip that if you want to:
He did say that he is leaving because he lacks the power to oppose the royals however you're missing a major fact which is that he said he'll take revenge for the commander and that he lacks power to do that right now (ending of chapter 5.1). In his parting thoughts he never mentioned the other guys, he solely focused on revenge.
Also, don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say he wasn't kind. I just meant that being kind isn't a priority of his and he is pragmatic rather than emotional.
That has been his character even in their original world where he'd rather not get involved with others. It doesn't mean he is unkind, he just doesn't put effort into it and he doesn't do things to sabotage his own objective.
So my point in the original comment is that he has never put effort into socializing but now he is fighting for that girl who has proven to be very troublesome ever since they met and even after all the misunderstandings are solved, he'll take her with him to his next destination. She is no longer under any threat but he actively sought to take her along the way. In my opinion, that does not fit his profile, at least not as it was developed in the beginning. Some might call that character development but that's just one point of view. I personally don't like it.

This started like a good story about a cool female MC but from the raws, it's going to get shitty soon. Without any spoilers, this is going to get repetitive and the MC's character gets less and less cool with every chapter.
All I wanted was a story where the female MC does her shit and is effective at whatever she does and where romance doesn't factor into it at all at least until she and the ML develop a functional relationship ... I don't mind romance completely but the pace is all messed up in this one and it doesn't reflect well on the characters especially the MC
The only story I'm currently reading that fits this category is "Emperor And The Female Knight", if even that one goes to shit, so help me god I'm going to lose my hope in humanity
EDIT: I DID LOSE MY FAITH IN HUMANITY BECAUSE "THE EMPEROR AND THE FEMALE KNIGHT" IS SHIT AS WELL !!
Lmao I feel bad for u especially since I know the spoils to Emperor and the female knight ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Omg don't tell me that one is also going to get a messed up pace and the MC and ML are going to develop an unhealthy relationship...nooooooo
Well personally I didn’t like the way ending sound or how it happened lol, but if u end up not liking it, u can fall back on either SPECIAL A, DENGEKI DAISY, NAMAIKIZAKARI, yona of the dawn, Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori, Fly High, Love Sick, Hana ni Arashi (TAKAGI Shigeyoshi), Blood Alone, Otoyomegatari, (out of subject but golden kamuy is really good And funny manga)
dear akera, hate to tell you but the spoiler of the Emperor and the female knight will just make you stop reading it which happened to me. Do you want to know why? haha
Yes please spoil it for me. This is basically the only good manga with a female MC I'm reading right now (in the past I read "light and shadow" and loved it from beginning to end) so if it's going to end badly I need to know so I can lower my expectations
Well if you insist but i am warning you it's better to stop than make your little heart get hurt from what's gonna happen
Lucius does marry 3 women but it's for political purposes. Tbh I feel kinda bad for him. As a monarch he would have only a few close friends, it wasnt really a decision of his more of an expectation to retain his power. He would have to put his country before himself (AKA his empire's wellbeing before his feeling) If I were in that position I would feel suffocated. He needs the political alliances to consolidate powers in the three regions of his empire. Some of yall may be upset that Polly wasnt confessed to before he decided to marry other women but she would've been bound by her oath as his knight. In order to strengthen his position he also needs an heir. One of the wives died in childbirth (gave birth to a princess), the other was imprisoned (she was a traitor so she was killed), and another asked for a divorce. None of them recieved Luxors affection.
My opinion:
Likes:I really enjoyed the novel. The female lead was very capable and the male lead felt very 'fresh' idk how to put it in words. Really showed the prejudice woman face in the workplace. Good character development and pace. Polly gets a whole ass country as a gift from the emperor
What I dislike: She eventually marries Luxor. I felt that it would've been better if they didnt marry as shes worked so hard to prove herself and fight off the prejudice of being a woman. I feel that she'll be remembered Luxors wife rather than for her hard earned achievements.
Dont focus too much on the 3 wives plot, people in the comments are spinning it out of proportion without even reading the novel. Emperor makes a new law especially for Polly.
this is one of the few comments i've read and i therefore hate it
Honestly, I understand the rage about the 3 wives thing because it wasn't explicitly said that polygamy is normal. Sure, historically, that is completely normal but I've read too many webtoons where it's not the case. The author could've inserted something to indicate this in the story like the female lead's father having multiple wives or something so we'd be aware of the fact and drop the story if it doesn't fit our preference.
In my case, I would've still read it hoping that it won't apply to the main male lead and then dropped it when it got to the 3 wives part.
Can I please ask you something:
1- Did he approach her and get into a relationship with her before he married the 3 wives?
2- Is she in love with him at that point and are there multiple angsty scenes?
3- Does she continue to be a knight after that? Do the wives torment her ?
4- After marrying her, is she the only wife that he ever takes ?
Sorry for the multiple questions but this'll determine whether I continue to read this or drop it. I hate the 3 wives thing but I might tolerate it if she is indifferent about it, doesn't love him and continues to be a perfect knight and their relationship only deelops after all of the wives are gone and she is the only one he ends up with.
its okay i know how you feel though i kept coming back to read the spoilers just for you hahahaha
( well he has 3 wives, he IMPREGNATES ONE, and impregnated pauliana. She runs away, and he locks up one wife divorces the other and the other dies during birth. I'm not into polygamy. And it ends like shit, with pauliana and the emperor being alone like how it started. What a pointless outcome to such a good comic. Pqulina gets engaged. Her fiance wanted her for her money. She gets heartbroken and drinks and the emperor and her confess. She gets pregnant and runs away. And he let's her because he doesnt want to hurt her anymore and thinks she doesnt like him. Then he finds out brings her back. She becomes a concubine?? And his other concubine son becomes crown prince. I don't mind the three marriages but he shouldnt have had a child with another woman no matter what if he loved her and she shouldnt have returned to be a woman. She fought for him and worked harder she should've had a higher status at the very least. He also shouldnt have just let her go, he is supposedly this great emperor and master tactiction but cant handle a simple conversation. The ending completely shits all over Paulina's struggles and glorifies the dude as if all her worth was just a marriage.
if you want another story like this then i truly recommend The Duke's servant, it gives the pleasure, fluffy feeling we want and no HEARTBREAKING like Emperor and the female knight though its still ongoing so i'm not sure in the future
Thank you very much for the thorough explanation. I need to take this off of my lists so I no longer receive any notifications for it. That ending is absolute garbage and I regret reading it and getting so invested in it
I know that one. It's in my lists as well. There are 26 chapters and I remember reading 25 of them and then deciding to stop and only come back after it's completed because it gave me a bad premonition of future angst and I can't handle cliffhangers with romance involved. I follow a bunch of shounen like One piece and black clover and I'm fine with whatever btu romance is a sore spot for me. But I think I'll come back to read " The Duke's servant" later
good to know we had the same taste in manga haha
Hey can you tell me the spoilers to duke's servant if you know it? Isn't the duke a playboy? He sleeps with multiple partners?
I approve of your taste (strokes fake beard )
I saw the raw of the manga but I'm not entirely sure about the story. I can't understand the language >< but one thing I understand the duke will save Lindsay and some of the drawing as to what I understand showed that the Duke kissed Lindsay and Lindsay is naked!
woah.....that freaking sucks........
