I noticed a lot of dissonance in comparing the lead characters from the manhwa to the novel as well as their future plotlines. I'll be honest I think the manhwa adaptation is going for a shorter happy ending route than the twisted novel, not to mention the rushing of the story. Thankfully someone in the topics section listed the timeline and personality differences of the characters in comparison on its novel counterpart so you can compare there.
Anyway a few things I think regarding the characters, tho can be proven wrong, but for now what I'll settle with.
- Edric here is written to be more of a pushover by his mother, lacks a bit of cunning and horrendous side of his novel counterpart. Basically, an idiot prince scenario (I've read too many books and scripts and see this as a typical character stereotype, especially in K-Drama)
- Mellie is still a damsel in distress. Unfortunately, still barely has any substance aside from being a damsel in distress and being stupidly-in-love with Edric. It may be uncomfortable for others, but it is a common plot driver in both stories and reality. My cousin being one despite her husband's irresponsibility and being a violent drunkard.
- Francis, is written now more to be a plot driver supporting character, I still don't see the second male lead role others have said about him as he doesn't feel like he harbors any romantic feelings or even if he does, there's nothing that makes it appear he wants to pursue it. In the novel he was just a rescuer to Mellie, nothing deep.

I guess some readers forgot that this world is apocalyptic. Which means morals are down the bin, and laws which could also be inhumane are made to control the community. I’ve watched and read a lot of these apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic scenarios that if anything else I’m more surprised MC had the guts to slap their leader.
But I guess the drama starts here…

Books that fall under the omegaverse genre always has an iffy angle. And most times, it can only go one way or another. Rare are the books that manage to be mildly acceptable.
I can already see a few alarming flags that delve into certain tropes I hope the author won't go into. But I know that it's falls onto that trend so it seems that it will be inevitable.
But then again, we'll see in the upcoming chapters.

I LOVE anti-hero plot types. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this manga. But...
Alicia keeps giving me a whiplash with admirable logical choices and comedic knuckle sandwiches of "Villainess this" and "Villainess that". Someone in the comments made a good theory as to why but the way it's written makes it hard to take her seriously. Now I feel for how people who know her basically does at this point think "She's crazy but she means well". So far 3.5/5.
I dunno why I wrote this whilst reading the novel lol. Now 2-2.5 of 5.
In Chapter 5, MC makes a face that makes me think he'd fit perfectly if his role in the plot was more anti-hero.
