yall hating on gaeun when she’s the most interesting character. looks like she can sense spirits, has no memory of her life prior to being in the village, we don’t even know if her dad is her dad either. whatever her appearance means, it’s at the root of what is going on in the village. her being nauseous right now might mean that the “mother” isn’t a protector spirit but something more sinister. mc is getting revenge sure but why was gaeun brought to the village and why does she have no life before that.
It's probably because author is trying to add a love interest so badly (in this case gaeun), ruining her entire character. I do agree that's she's pretty interesting as a character tho

i actually really enjoy the characters in this story. they are so different from normal manhwas in that they all have a range of interests and emotions not tied to ml and fl. i’ll admit i doubted the ml in ch 1 but he is trying his best to be better i think. even in his responses to olive on why he started classes he admitted to caring about the beast men and respects those around him. it looks like his disease and lack of an upbringing turned him into a puppet tyrant all to get olives love. i also love olive, a smart fool with a good heart and funny too.
even after reading the spoilers, i understand the fls perspective even if i don’t agree. you’re 18, chronically ill, develop your first crush turned situationship turned your emperor father and crushes emperor brother blackmailing you to forcibly marry said crush or there will be literal war. you still are like “alright as long as my man shows his face before that so we can communicate it’s all good,” mind you bro does not show up till after their married on paper and is acting like everything is fine. this could have all been avoided had their been actual communication from all parties. anyways the set up is interesting, the translation is great, and i want to know more about the creature who called fl a traitor and whose blood was on the floor…
Bright has a major ego complex. I believe if Wisteria wasn’t a magic user, he would’ve made her since he wants someone to “pity” and “protect.” Judging from their younger days, he seemed to like the idea of protecting her not to mention she’s the meek adopted daughter. Wisteria wants to protect him and his savior complex can’t stand it. This is why he chose the weak younger sister and doesn’t care that she’s mentally broken after sending her adopted sister to her death. He’s also a terrible father jealous of his son being actually talented unlike him. He’s also nasty for the age gap with his wife.
