That actually is a form of assault. Assault doesn’t have to end up with bruises and blood to count. Verbal assault is also very real. Assault is using the threat of violence to get someone to do or act in a way they want. When I googled what counts as assault there was a part that said “ Physical injury is not required.”

Ex. Someone could hold me at gun point and say “have sex with me.” Even if they had no intention of actually shooting, there’s the threat of violence. Thus it’s assault. Sexual assault if I “agreed” to it because it’s coercive sex with the threat of violence.

Ex. A husband and wife get into an argument and the husband punches a hole in the wall next to his wife. That is also a degree of assault. He didn’t hurt her, but he showed that he wanted to and could. The same goes for throwing plates, glass, etc. Its similar to verbal abuse but with the added intensity of the threat of bodily harm. You weren’t hit this time, but what about next time?

My mom’s thrown things at me before too. I’ve been hit before. Just because our parents have done it doesn’t mean it’s not assault. It doesn’t mean they were right in their actions.

Just because you are their child it doesn’t mean you are a lesser human being. If your parents did that to another adult, they could be charged. But they wouldn’t do that to another adult or someone else’s child.

So what gives them the right to do it to you? Children are not ‘owned’ by their parents. You’re not a slave. Sure you need to have discipline, but violence has only led to repressed feelings, distrust, and lies.

that's what I was saying. There was the intent of harm and the possibility. What if she didn't dodge? What if the hit was strong? What if the kane broke and splits got into her leg? The possibility of harm was there. Even if someone wasn't hurt it's still seen as assault. And not to undermine the dukes strength, he ain't a duke for no reason.

To the people talkin about my comment and parents: thanks and the info. But I wasn’t being really serious, so I’m fine lol. Those things happened a long time ago back in elementary school before I learned how to not make trouble. I never thought of my parents to own me or that I felt bad about it, most of those times, I was the one making trouble for them. I guess it depends on how everyone has different views on parenting, some would never want to hurt their child, and others think it’s just discipline. I’ve seen others around me talk about how their parent would beat their a$$ if they did something bad, but still say they love their parents.

It’s just how a lot of people grew up (not all- I know) so it’s was already normalized. I don’t say I particularly agree with it for everything (like little things such as getting bad grades or not doing chores). But maybe bigger things like getting caught doing drugs, bullying someone, etc. Some people hate their parents for hurting them whether or not if they were in the wrong. I don’t because I know my parents were really easy going compared to others and let me have a lot of what I wanted.

I'm happy it isn't serious. But u should never let anyone excuse their bad actions as normal. Even if they are parents, I was told to love my dad cuz he was my dad after he psychologically fucked me up and abused me as a kid. What I'm trying to say is u should never let someone do something to you that isn't right, even if it's seen as normal like a parent whopping a kids ass. Everyone reacts to that differently, the abuse I experienced fucked me up hard and no onr should go throu that thinking it's "what parents are like".
