I liked better how Aki was in her first drawings, more masculine and sexy in my opinion.

I like chap 55 Akihito the best actually ~ Manly, beautiful and seductive :)

A while back, someone mentioned ordering "Asami" in the mail, and I took it to mean the manga. There is something wrong with me. Getting hooked into a new kdrama will fix it.

After being sucked into a few epis, I want to tell you I am really enjoying this one. I like kdrama to start with, but the whole premise speaks to my fangirls. When the father is grinning evilly as he kills off one of his characters, I thought, "That's how I imagine GRRM whenever he kills a Stark."

Well it is an AU. Sensei listens to her fan's request and once in a while inputs it into her work, so this extra probably exist largely because of overwhelming fan requests.

In the main story, Akihito got a little jealous when Kuroda called Asami by his first name, and besides, he's speaking to a baby, have to take a more friendlier tone. The image sensei set of Asami is that he excels at his work: drug trades, negotiations, gun fights......So family life isn't something he's used to so it's not surprising when ordinary Akihito brought regularity such as cooked meals, stocked fridges, babies (Just a general sense of hominess) to his life, something he's not used to experiencing. As for the phone strap and toys, those are all put there by Akihito because seeing "something scary paired with something cute" gave him a new obsession, and that is paring the scary Asami with cute things like phone straps and plushies.

I do agree with that drawing, sensei seemed to have slimmed them down quite a bit, but mangaka's art styles all undergo evolution. Just look at Naruto and Bleach! Beauty standards in Asian is slim individuals. I'm half half Japanese and Chinese and my friends and parents always check out the smaller, slimmer, pretty boys over the thicker muscular ones. And manga characters are always just so perfect that the reader wants to project themselves onto them and fantasize a life where they can live like the characters. I guess that's the most important thing for me. When reading a manga, I rate it based on if I can project myself onto them or into the story, it's like a way to destress from daily life for me. Giving Asami and Akihito a more family vibe with this chapter makes it more relatable with everyday people. That's just my two cent on this

Asami does not want to be a father - that scares him more than assassins, the toys on his phone is Akihito messing with him, Aki calling him Ryuichiu onisan is a cute way to present a child to someone who may or may not be threatening - and if you had paid any attention to the extras over the years, this behaviour is totally consistent. This chapter is just as funny and cute as her others.

Babies aren't my thing either--but many people seem to like it. I did like Asami's reactions, though. I totally understand not being afraid of assssins but fearing the one you love has his heart set on something you do not want at all. Aki is Asami's one weakness. If Aki likes zombie movies, Asami watches them with him. If Aki likes fireworks, Asami arranges them. Now Aki likes babies--shit, I'm scared too.

Also, notice that Aki introduces the baby to "Uncle Ryuchi" but Aki still calls Asami "sir" and "boss". Technically, Aki is using it as a way to try to make Asami accept the baby. This is cute--not because it's a baby (personally I can live without a baby too), but because of how Aki is working Asami, and how Asami wants to please Aki.

I Americanized it as "uncle" because that's the fake family title we would extend (not big brother). As for the sarcasm, maybe, but it's still not as if Aki casually called Asami Ryuichi directly. Care to explain the use of "boss"? That one kind of threw me a bit.

In Asia it would be big brother or big sister instead unless the person is much older. Akihito use is like when your mom repeatly ask you to do something so you tiredly say "yes m'am". Kirishima is respectful of Asami and uses Boss or Asami-same to address him

I understand that--it's just that I translated into the cultural meaning instead of literal one when I put it into English. :) Also, I think Asami is much older than the baby, but that's just me. As for Kirishima, I didn't get that it was him speaking at first because of the page and panel break. Looking at it again I see that you are right. That does make more sense.

But the original point that I was trying to get across is that Aki hasn't directly called Asami Ryuichi--Aki still calls him Asami and appears as if he is deferring to Asami (I mean, of course Aki gets what he wants, but there is some bowing and Aki seems relieved that the baby can stay). It's not as if Ak is suddenly saying, "Hey Ryuichi, pick up some milk and diapers on the way home--a baby will be staying with us for a while."

Yes it interesting from culture to culture I didnt know that. I guess Akihito says big brother because it would be weird to Akihito to refer to someone he is sleeping with as Asami oji san instead. Saying onii san say they are closer on generation scale. I donnot know about other culture but as asian, I was always taught to be humble and never be a bother. If I go over to friends house, mom and dad would say dont eat their food, it not polite because they earned it it's theirs. So Aki begging and bowing which is common in japan, to the owner of the house isn't strange to me. He lives there freely and it would be rude of him to act like the house is partly his and do what ever he wants. They not married, they just have sexual relations and they never discuss their boundaries and Aki say he is a freeloader. He makes up for it by cooking and paying for food and cleaning so he is trying to earn his worth staying with Asami and not bother him.

That makes sense. What part of Asia are you from? There is a little Filipina-American neighborhood who calls me "Tia" (Spanish for Aunt). I suppose I am lucky she does not call me "Grandma". She'll eat treats I give her, but her family knows me.

Yes onii san is used more often by child so if the baby grew up and talk he would say onii san unless the person look much much older

Lol I'm from Shanghai it's okay to eat they like to feed :) but our culture is you have to refuse several times before you accept. If you are not Asian they don't mind because they know you have different culture. Have you seen Chinese fit over the bill in restaurants? They all have to make a fight for it even though no one wants to pay, but it's "polite" to make many gestures to try and pay for it. It's very tiring sometimes XD

Being humble and not a bother isn't exclusive to asian culture.

It's just expressed in a different way.

For instance, where I live people would be saddened or even offended if you refused to eat what they offered you, especially if they took the time to cook it themselves in an intent to please you. So you make the effort to, even when you don't especially like it. It's not then end of the world if you don't, just extremely awkward and disappointing to the other party. I sure avoid that, and we're told to make the effort.

That is very true! at picnics, family gatherings people will judge on who helped and who did not. one does not want to be seen as not being one not helpful.
