It's a different story if u plainly hate rape because of your own (or a close person's) Trauma/phobia tho, your hate is extremely valid, because this work can trigger painful memories that YOU have experienced before. The rape isn't the only reason why people are leaving... this is straight up glorifying slavery and the rape and Stockholm syndrome that happened during it. No matter how you look at it, it's about slavery. Doesn't matter if it's about black or natives, slavery happened and the rape during just mskes the story more realistic, but trashy that they turned it into a love story.
This story is great for the first couple but the other 2 are literal stories of slaves being made to love there master and just forget shit. And you make it seem like other people don't drop the stories you mention, there are people that look past the he rape scenes in Yaoi cause its so common and such and heavy load to unpack.

Just because it happened a long time ago doesn't mean a writer can't write about it. As far as I'm concerned, you don't get to choose who you fall in love with. Rowell said he fell in love with Deb because of his eyes. And Dev apologized and they worked through things. Though that doesn't mean rape should happen irl, this is just fiction. Plus the other side couples aren't being made to love their masters, Noah and the prince fell in love after the slavery was abolished so it's now like a worker falling for their boss. And the other side couple they had their issues but how many couples do you irl are in love with people who abuse them and don't even have the guts to apologize about it or even lead them to their deaths? Just because someone was terrible in the past doesn't mean they're never gonna change. Maybe the spinel forgives him way too fast but peoples behaviour and emotions aren't constant. They're ever changing, so a person can change for the better or for the worse. But still remember this is a work of fiction set in a historical time where most of the things we abhor now we're probably taken as normal. Besides shouldn't a story be realistic according to the time period it's set in?
