I realy wana know why they treated her like crap.. they expected her to instinctualy learn to shapeshift.. and when she couldnt they just abandoned her.. and right before her comming of age,, they abandoned her in a forest wanting her to die and hired ppl to bring back the corpse.. I think his reason for proposing might be simpler than the speculations i have seen.
Think about it, the murderer is the Emperors brother who kills who the Emperor orders him to.
FL is from a family that has long suported the Emperor and been loyal.
Ml asked FL to marry him because she kept quiet about the murder, he takes that as her being loyal to his brother as she hasnt revealed it, tried to blackmail him and is straight up awoiding ading fule to the situation.
In Ml's eyes FL is from a loyal trustworthy family, she kept his secret and is tight liped and this is while she knows he is a muderer = this makes FL the ideal spouce for him! (he has to get married at some point anyway)
I also thought it might be because she said he was in a "jewellery store" which he could have taken as a hint "give me a ring" xD

Having read the Raws i have to say i hope FL end up with the Duke (silver haired), if its between the two brothers..

If so, im guessing his wish might have been "to have a loving family, or somone who loves and cares for him". I can imagin his shock, finding himself as a child again with this neglectful aunt. The shock of seeing the aunte trying to be nice to him and give him a loving home, protect him and look out for his best intrest. Luca just officialy showed he cares deeply for Fl now :) and sees her as a loving family member, hench why he hate Ml.

Well originaly Ml raised Luca, and when they were hunted down and his death was eminent he told Luca "i raised you out of obligation and never loved you" and he was being brutaly honest.
Just like Ml is to FL.. he will tell her stuff like "here have this necklas/ jewlery" and be overly nice to her (he treats her like he is corting her and even sugest marrige) but its all out of a sence of duty as Luca's uncle.. and he has no atatchment to Fl or Luca atm.. thats why Luca hates him..
Its also sad that FL found her self falling for him.

I think it’s because she didn’t follow the story. Everyone had a set destiny and maze didn’t follow hers. That would also explain why she sees her as a sinner. Yet here we have a FL experiencing the same yet still being judged even when she makes changer... and the argument is "she was shit so she got what she deserves" and "she should abandoning everything and starting anew in a new area".. SHE HAS NO MONEY.. how would she start anew with no cash and debtcolector hunting her? Honestly..
No one questiones a male character who has been trained and raised all his life to be a knight to pay of a debt..

How many stories have we seen with Tyrants ending up with a Fl and ppl going "he changed for her" .. and yet here we are and FL somehow deserved worse than death?
I am literaly not hearing much critique of FL's ex comander who orderd here to do all that bad shit.. and im even seeing ppl blody defending him and saying he is better than her.
I'm sure you and all of us know the answer to this. A lot of readers for this genre are women and as such, they tend to be harder on women than men. In some cases, its the dreaded internalized misogyny, in others its a case of being disappointed in someone of their gender being like that because they believe THEY would never be like that and they expect more from women than men.
Another reason is lower expectations or 'gap moe' if you're familiar with the term. MLs are portrayed to be cold, aloof, rude, violent, arrogant, etc. So when they show ANY redeeming quality or say one thing nice, it has more impact. Its like when FLs who are expected to be pure, devoted, friendly and people pleasing show any flaw at all, they get ripped apart.
The last reason is very shallow and the saddest of all: hot guys get a free pass. Theres manga where hot guys just kill people for no reason, they just like killing, no revenge plot, nothing. Theres manga where hot guys are actually abusive, overbearing, CRIMINALS toward the FL but they're hot. Anything a hot guy can do is fine because they are hot. The readers are livid when a FL does any of that shit because how DARE they when they're not even a hot guy?
That being said, these are my general observations after reading manga (and the like) for over a decade), I haven't personally seen any on this one in particular.
you are right, and sadly.. its the same readers who feel that way that also say all isekai / reincarnation stories are practicaly the same..
Yet hate every time a new type comes out and says stuff like "why didnt fl do what that fl did"... and in 70% of those stories they refer to FL got out of debt / a sticky situation by marrying a rich nobel.. aka they sold themself but its all good and dandy because the huband comes to live FL in the end..
And in the last 30% Fl is from a high ranking nobel family.. aka money and power.
In this story FL is a commoner with no father and isnt considerd "pretty" and is stronger and more talented than most nobel men.. hence the nobel men feeling inferior to a "common girl" and hence all that bad rumors about Fl.. Think about it .. the bad rumors were there befor FL literaly sold herself to the black knight..

The culprit is Arth, Fl and the princes fiance, dont remember ehr name. They did it because the crown prince isnt fit and the second prince who is fit is discriminated agaist.
With this incident the secondprince showed he can take comand and be trusted to do what is needed, where as CP is a crying baby neglecting everything and taking no action.
The second prince wins the nobels respect and end up crowned and can be with his love the heroin.
The CP's finace gets her freedome and gains power as the head of her household, Arth and FL get together and PC gets framed for the poisoning.
CP is so dumb that he is easy to frame as he chose to do nothing to help the investigation, this makes nobels whisper that maybe he was gunning for the throne. All they need is to "find" the evidence that he was behind it and its case closed.
So….
