And there is a difference between Maid and Maid of Honor or Lady In waiting, Lady in Waiting are from Noble Lady, their task mostly choosing dress, serving Tea, planning the budget, Preparing the banquet, etc, you could said they like a secretary. And they do have power, for reference like Lady Diana Grandmother, she is a Baroness and The Queen Lady In Waiting.
