I just disagree with your initial comment. Imo the problem with Rio is that he was given everything except a stable home/environment to return to. At least from the other stories, it always seemed like he was being tossed around as a kid. His dad was busy, the butler was busy, Kei was busy, Shingo was busy. Sometimes he would be with his dad, sometimes with the butler, sometimes with Kei/Shingo. It still seems to be the case even now. I don't doubt they love Rio and ik they spoil him as much as they could but stability is important to a kid. Coming home to the same place everyday, knowing that someone is waiting for you at home, seeing the same people everyday; that kinda stuff can be important.
This author handles plots so well,whether it's a basic high school romance(Doukyuusei) or something heavy like this I hate this type of romance but till the end I rooted for them even after finding the truth.

In order to toxic relationships to work in stories it should be told as how bad they are,not trying to make it seem romantic. In this story it worked like a charm till latest chapters,I understand how uke falls in love with that douchebag,he thinks they are the only ones in this "corrupted" world that understand one another but no honey yall are just high schoolers theres good people in world and theres in fact people who would love you because you are who you are.I cant stand the seme I hope he dies alone and rots in a pit (●'◡'●)ﾉ
I'm so confused about second couple or if they are even couple,I think we will see second lead action with blue haired guy ,I wanna like Woojin but hes really toxic,he gives me psychopath vibes I dont found what he does any romantic at all,story and art is really captivating but why does this feels like a straight kdrama (⊙…⊙ )
