are we just gonna forget that the white haired guy tried to rape orange haired guy?????
It's definitely NOT an excuse, but it's one of the reasons. Trauma experienced in childhood can wound a person emotionally. But the truth is it all depends on the individual. Some people are stronger, some are weaker, that's a fact. The stronger ones might be able to analyze, understand and overcome their hard childhood while others will use it all their life as a shield or excuse. That doesn't make them bad people, some events require a lot of work to overcome.
I too was really disturbed when he tried to rape the guy just because he felt the need to take everything from his brother, as he had always done during their childhood. This might be a controversial idea, but i think Suk yun has his share of the blame, although small, since he kept indulging the brother and giving in to his demands out of guilt. The brother, who obviously is far from a victim, needs to stop acting like one and take responsibility for his own actions.
This is what i think the second story is about, a redeeming arc. We're not supposed to "root" for his happiness, because everyone has the right to like or dislike the guy. But i believe a very flawed character who can better himself for other people's sake deserves his share of happiness.
So sorry for the rambling lol. Just a thought.
But it wasn't attempted rape. Reading back on ch9, both were open to having sex with each other at first. Yoonseol made it clear that he was cool with being used by Woo-in for sex. Woo-in reciprocated the intimacy by not only not rejecting Yoonseol, but by also asking ''you want to do it here?'' (so the problem wasn't the act of sex, but where they were going to do it) and ''why do you want to sleep with me'' (so again, the problem wasn't having sex but wanting to know what Yooseol really wanted out of their sexual encounter). Woo-in accepts the foreplay, has his nipples and dick played with without resistance, and later--so while they were both okay with having sex--changes his mind. At this point, I could understand if you want to call it attempted rape because Woo-in then does say ''wait, hold on and cut it out'' but if there is something we have (unfortunately) gotten to learn from yaoi, it's that 'stop' doesn't necessarily mean 'no'. Most, if not all, BL feature a relationship where the character stays a variation of 'no' without actually wanting to stop. A good example of this is from the webtoon 'Master of Master, ch 12' where the uke tells the seme to 'stop' and the seme does stop. Then the uke is confused and tells the seme 'don't you know stop doesn't actually mean stop'. Pretty fucked up, but it is in line with the mindset these characters in yaoi have. Because of that, it's understandable that Yoonseol doesn't think Woo-in really means 'no' at first. When Yoonseol is accidentally hurt by Woo-in, Woo-in makes it clear that he really doesn't want to sleep with Yoonseol anymore (i.e.; he changed his mind) so Yoonseol accepts that, and that's that. Doesn't sound like an attempted rape, since the moment Yoonseol understands that Woo-in does not want to have sex, he does not push the issue. It would have been attempted rape if Yoonseol, in spite of Woo-in rejections, continues trying to have sex (which isnt the case)

rape is such a turn off
Still is a fantasy of some people.. Doesn't mean they want to be raped in real-life though!
