It's never just been about looks. Even as far back as chapter 1, it was already eluding to gang violence, bullying, etc. Alot of stuff was being set in stone in the background. The looks was superficial surface level plot points only.

Actually I can understand that Samantha's parents are being absolutely ridiculous, but that should not be a reason to bully and hit someone that badly, i hope she has a character development or I'm getting inside the screen and smacking her instead of Vicky
