I don't like this trope as well, but even so, why does author putting it at this point in the story only to end it in one chapter? Wasted chapter in my opinion, it doesn't add anything to the story

Wow. No one can do yandere as well as the japanese. Yes, i know the ML has psychological issues, and yes, he needs help. The FL and the ML's relationship is built on their mutual dependence on each other. I'm still not sure how this is going but it has a lot of potential.
If you're not comfortable with yandere, this is not for you.
The MC is like the obsessive MLs in other stories where they don't do anything but chase the FL until she gives up.
The MC is a bit dumb but she's not stupid and she stays very true to her simp character. I think the story will be more interesting once we see the thoughts of the other characters and not just the MC's.
