So in the novel he is actually protecting her from a Russian scientist (her dad) who wants to do some kind of research on her and all of that was done under her mom's orders..I don't remember much cause it's been a while since I read it but they met in childhood and he already likes her (just that he doesn't admit it.) She starts to sleep with him even before knowing that he is her husband and things happen but later into the story after she found out she abandoned him and went to Russia with the help of another childhood friend of hers so that's why I said he is gonna go through the same pain of being abandoned
This is all I remember but you can check out the novel it's really interesting but receives a lot of hate unfortunately and I can understand why XD
