y'know what, i'm kinda glad that seidou lost this one. So that'll ring a wake up call for the coach especially that furuya, as he is now, is not a reliable starter.
The one where they lost against amahisa, seidou didn't completely lost face, because sawamura saved their ass. So the fact that furuya fucked it up was kinda let ago after furuya's declaration to be the best pitcher blabla. And during their practice matcher when furuya messed up or straining for a bit, he's immediately pulled and replaced by one of nori or kawada, and seidou won all those matches.
But this time, they go up against one of the semi-finalist of spring koshien, and furuya strains (again) himself in the middle of the game, but he's not pulled until they have 2 or 3 innings (sorry if it's not accurate, i didn't pay attention) left. And instead of nori who is more experienced and skilled, they replace it with kawada, and that's apparently not good enough to beat that team.
So yeah this makes it at least clearer (to me) that furuya's fuck ups are so severe it can cost an important match, and a player. Rip ono btw, istg i don't understand why tf sensei did this to you, you deserve better and so is chris senpai (i'll be forever salty about chris and sawamura has only formed battery one time).

I think he did that for Ono because if the putcher can do good with a catcher from 1st year then is the real deal. Also he had too many catchers, so needed to sacrifice one of them to write the plot of all of them.
Also, sensei has a really crude vision of baseball. Sometimes sports are not grateful to the players who put their lives in them. It happened with Tanba, Chris and all the players that can't play. :'(

Amazing.... Sensei is truly amazing, he even makes Sawamura hyping up furuya. god fucking dammit. I just don't know what to say anymore at this point. How many fucking times does furuya needs to mess up and fuck up the team before they stop regarding him as seido's salvation send from heaven by God, and will /definitely/ do great and unstoppable WHEN his pitches is in control, or WHEN he's not straining, blablabla. The question of century is WHEN. Because he's not showing any improvement since his lost from amahisa.
I was impartial to furuya, and even liked him. But this kind of fuckery made me grow to dislike him. If that's terajima's goal, then i'd say 'Job well done, sensei'.

The thing is, if Sawamura IS given a chance to shine i wouldn't be bitter about it, but it's always then overshadowed again by furuya, and it keeps happening since act 1, and it has been for 400+ chapters!
I'll just give 1 example; after their lost to amahisa (by furuya breaking down, and sawamura saved seidou's ass from losing more face), sawamura expressed (nabe told them) that he wants to learn more about game calling, to get acknowledgement from miyuki and the coach, after performing brilliantly though they lost (again bcs of furuya breakdown and coach believing furuya is the ultimate ace or someshit, and didnt sub in sawamura until it's too late). And all the third years, and some 2nd years were stunned by eijun's resolution and tenacity, and said that they won't lose to him blabla.
But then the next day when they're watching the final game between mei's team vs amahisa's (sorry can't be bothered to remember it, bcs i was pissed off already atm, i like amahisa though), Furuya said stuff like "my goal didn't change, imma be the best pitcher in japan" and said along the same line as sawamura about getting acknowledgement, all the faces looks like saying "as expected.." "ofc our ace"
I'm kinda being shitty now, bcs your comment seems like trying to make me to chill, and hope for the best for sawamura, but when it comes to eijun and terajima, i've learned my lesson and not to have any expectation, it doesn't matter anyway, it's gonna leave me a bitter aftertaste after reading it. Thank you though for being hopeful, maybe by some miracle terajima fucking remembers that eijun is his main protagonist. Cheers!

I don't mind it either he's probably the best cheerleader seidou ever has, imo, what sawamura did is beyond cheering though, it's like he's hyping up furuya. Sawamura shouting encouragements when furuya up to bat IS (or was) him cheering for furuya, but when furuya pitched after his bat, sawamura said this "I guess his fastball is back in shape? *This is nowhere his real power yet*" (idk how to bold words) with his indoor voice, and was heard by the first years that stand close to him. Btw, the panels before it shows furuya pitching his fastball which has been shown over and over and over again, it doesn't develop both in accuracy or consistency. It's very unstable, and i think it's safe to say it's highly dependent on his mental state.
At some point things like "He's unstoppable when he's in the zone" is not enough. Like my first comment said, or any comment i've made about this freaking manga, seidou especially coach kataoka has to accept that they can't just wait around, bet, and pray that furuya is in the zone or won't break down, every time they have a match.
That's risky, especially if they want to win a ticket to koushien. Why would they use a pitcher who's only good and relieable when he's in the zone, and easily break down and strain when things don't go his way, when they have a perfectly stable pitcher like sawamura that's not just strong mentally, but also has more variety of pitches, and have opponents' batters unable to hit, pitcher that's capable of cheering himself and the team while at it. Pitcher who UNDERSTANDS that he couldn't beat his opponents alone, so he relies on his team and believes they got his back.
Sawamura is sportif and supportive, he's amazing, humble, hard working, optimistic, and all good thing, but we've already established that dozens of chapters ago. No need to exploit him to hype furuya, who doesn't need it, since every damn characters in this freaking manga seems to exist just to stroke his massive ego.

Idk if u remember that even tho Sawamura is the MC he failed really hard 2 times already, first in the finals against Inashiro and then in the nationals, while Furuya even tho needs to get in the "zone" (Kuroko no basket like xDDDD) he has shown develepment without like failing and then improve.
While Sawamura as we all know had a lot of hardships that for a normal student would they would probably give up

yeah i remember him not allowed in the team bcs he was late and tricked by miyuki, and instead ran around dragging tire until given a chance by the coach during awkward bath time. His yips and how hard it was for him to just get up and practice (and ran around dragging tire again), reading war strategies book, and speak in old japanese (hilarious). Working on improving his balance (with the help of his beloved chris senpai) and form, training his lower bodies thus increasing his pitches speed and power. Training his accuracy off seasons (still is), develops more and more useful breaking ball. I remember sawamura's fail, but i also remember how he overcomes it. It was shown in the manga, how he felt about it, how he deal and accept it, how he try to improve himself, and how much he has to do to get acknowledgement from the coaches and miyuki. It was excellent writing and character development by terajima sensei.
I don't quite get what your point is though? sorry..
So i'll just say this, i'm not hating on furuya. I'm hating on how terujima sensei seems to think it's okay to keep making sawamura and all his efforts aren't enough to stand on equal ground as the current furuya. Just because furuya is unstoppable when he's in the zone (sorry again but i don't read kuroko lol i just know them from gintama XD), the circumstance which i can safely say is getting rarer. Even when he's in the zone it's likely won't last until the whole game, and when he breaks down means more points to the opponents.
If terajima sensei at least showed furuya working on how he's overcoming his obvious flaw (breaking down and straining during game), like how sawamura get over his yips, i might've been less salty about it. Furuya has been told over and over again not to strain, to trust his teammates, but he'll rely solely on his fastball to oust them all, and break down when a batter manage to hit it, even if it's crap hit.
I think furuya is similar with Bokuto from haikyuu in which they're easily feel down. However, the huge difference is Bokuto trusts his teammates will back him up and pick himself up again with the help of his teammates (akaashi will have to make up some excuses but that lift bokuto's mood, that means bokuto really listen). But furuya seems to think that if he comes off less than perfect the team will lose, when they have outstanding fielders like kuramochi, haruichi, shirashi, and zono. So for furuya pitching for hit won't be a problem, but he rarely does that, and just rely on his fastball (implying he doesn't trust his team as much as he trusts himself).
Maaaann, i always end up writing long ass essay when it comes to this manga, it's fun to have someone to talk to about it, and hearing your opinions. So thank you for replying to my comments @medjovem98, @kimjoysu :D

I love you @zolu-kagehina and I completely understand you, really. But I have hope because of the character development that Sawamura has suffer since ACT 1. In this point Furuya can't move forward and even coach-biased-Ochiai has realized that now. He can't move on because he needs to do all of the things Sawamura has been doing till now.
And I need to say a couple of thing more: 1)Maezono (bless him, really) and the second string's members all recognize Sawamura and is obvious they believe in him like the ace now. Terajima has shown this very good. When the first string's member are going to aknowledge him? Don't know bu I hope they do it soon because is pissing me off. 2)After the Amahisa lost I've been thinking that coach Kataoka realized his faults and began to watch in Eijun's direction. He entrusted Sawamura wit all of the important games, and he gave him really touching word differents from the las one. So, in this point, I think he believes in Sawamura as the ace, too. But for the sake of winning koshien, he needs to prepare Furuya too.
So, I understand your frustration but we have to have faith. If maybe Terajima betrays us, well... We can suffer together :,D?

aww that's sweet, thanks :D
Yeah, i think one of the few silver linings is that ochiai (fuk him) finally realize that sawamura is probably the better pitcher (i use probably bcs that asshole is likely still think furuya is better somehow), and more interesting since he uttered "how monotonous" when furuya was pitching, this one though, i kinda feel he also meant it for yui, and furuya-yui battery.
I'm also glad that kataoka rely a little bit more to sawamura after his excellent saving of seidou's ass during the match with amahisa. The coach also makes a point to nurture other pitchers that "give up" pitching as long as they get on the first string, like toujou, and kaneda. I also agree that they need furuya to be in his top shape if they want to get to koushien, but not as their ace, rather as seidou's relief pitcher. I think after all this sawamura deserves his ace number no?
p.s.: i also love that the players in the same year as sawamura are his biggest supporters, and the ones that help him practice, and practice alongside him too. Like kanemaru, toujou, kariba, haruno, haruichi, and furuya (we know he knows how strong sawamura is, it's just his ego doesn't allow him to say it out loud, fckrs). And how loved (and watched) sawamura is by his friends, teammates, and opponents, and of course by the fans hoho

Wut a beautifull community!!
I personally prefer this way with Furuya cause in my head like thank god he didnt get the same trainning sawamura got cause if he did sawamura wouldnt even be able play as a relief pitcher as often as he did.
Like imagine furuya like improving his accuracy quickly (an out low like Sawamura) with that fruging fastball of his tell me unless he was like super tired do u think he would get out of the mound??

Btw I am seeing like the anime for like the third or fourth time dont remember, and i notice that the first number Furuya got was the number 18 and the second was the ace number.
While Sawamura was first the number 20 and then the number 18 so maybe now he just like Furuya gets the ace number.
IDK, idk, IDK
I hope tho :((((

ignoring the furuya jack off fest in the beginning, i'm glad the other players have their own time to shine. The third years are really cool, especially kuramochi, his teamwork with haruchi also improved! lol @ eijun though, as loud and eloquent as ever. He's getting that ace number!!! If not, fukem =-=
If i could sum up my reaction towards this match would be SAWAMURAAAAAHAHSGDFJSKSLKDBXBXNSJUAJSBDJFJXJX THEN DED
