Ugh this new arc is so momentum breaking. The early seasons established the world, romance between Albis and MC, and the potential conflict with yandere Vercion - getting the audience invested in the established characters. Then you just whisk away one half and to this new place and establish even more characters! It's all so exhausting and diverges from the existing emotional build up. It's not like the introduction of the ex is a bad thing, but all this could have happened later on instead of right this instant.
Oh man, the ex reminds me of many old school couples who just start priotising other things besides each other. They stay together because it's easy, but it's also easy to be complacent. It's like you divorced each other slowly and painfully. That's showing your love for each other regularly and consistently is more important that grand gestures only on specific days (like Valentine's). Because once you lose that, you have nothing left.

Wild how this is still so good after so many years. Also, it's a strange feeling when "the end" is really the end, like no side stories or extras. Kinda refreshing.
