i was skeptical at first bc i thought the plot was trying to be more complex than it actually was. but even with predictable outcomes, the characters made smart choices that kept me hooked. i esp liked that chris didn’t jump to conclusions about max and remained steadfast in his trust. thankfully, he didn’t play the role of a damsel in distress like most mafia stories with civilian lovers. the story is satisfying bc right when it seems like the worst is about to happen, everything plays out in the mcs favor. i wish there’d been an after story for both couples tho (and a longer depiction of the brothers suffering for their crimes)
while reading i went from “aw it’s not too bad, kinda adorable even. maybe i judged the cover too soon” to “wtf put these bitches in an asylum”. i can’t tell if i just don’t like psycho thrillers or the plot was too ambitious then fell off as other comments suggested. i initially enjoyed it bc the first half reminded me sm of ‘at the end of the road’ (i’ll reread it as a palate cleanser now). after the door sex chapter, i just skimmed through the rest of the story… it stops being scary once u’ve accepted that the narrator is not in danger, but unreliably batshit crazy. still would love to read another work by this artist since their characters are dreamy as hell.
cried like a fucking baby. the dungeon panels were so cinematic, it really drew me in to keep reading. i adored the side characters and the mc. i was wondering why hyeon’s behavior toward yiseon did a 180 from an asshole to mr-nice-guy. turns out it was still part of an act, but yiseon was sadly two steps ahead. the lighthouse scene really solidified this as a 10/10 for me.
this webtoon was so hyped all over socmed that i kinda expected a multi-layered plot riddled with twists, but it was quite simple and light-hearted. ig the people yearn for a refreshing story in a sea of toxic, angsty bl.
both mcs were entertaining & relatable to an extent. i was all for seyeong pushing heejae away at first (bc wtf home invasion). tho upon seeing heejae’s pov, i switched up and started rooting for him. tbh, if seyeong’s internal dilemma prolonged any further, i would’ve been well and truly annoyed with him lol. so i teared up from joy when he finally confessed! i still wish the push and pull had been shorter so there’d be more chapters of them as an actual couple. heejae is MASSIVE GREEN FLAG. i love how he grounds seyeong and stops him from overthinking. and ohhhh, u can clearly see how seyeong gets fonder and falls for him even more. they’re perfect for each other…
lastly, i wouldn’t have enjoyed this series as much as i did if not for the MAJESTIC art. like the artist really made sure heejae had zero bad angles gahaha plus his in-game avatar is gorgeous too. the female character designs were also PEAK.
don’t let his pretty face fool you, wooyoung is one of the most assertive bottoms. ever. he can be naive but never a pushover. he knows his charms and uses it to be a menace to society. it’s a nice change to see the top get strung up by the bottom’s whims and pushiness instead of the other way around (most bl nowadays). i do have some gripes with the plot because it felt like the author either forgot or ignored earlier plot points just to rush to the pregnancy arc. some details also didn’t make sense bc in the world i live in, seoul is atleast half a day away from new york even on the fastest plane lmao
while i love wooyoung the way he is, i still expected some character development or growth on his end, but he remained the same even as a parent lol. others may find that annoying though for me it’s understandable with the way he’s always coddled. kyungju really deserves the most credit here because he has the patience of a saint.
i adore the art style! the artist def knows her anatomy and has a good grasp of dynamic poses and natural expressions. i’ve read too many where faces look good but their movements look so rigid and soulless that it’s distracting
may i know if their coercive relationship at the beginning will be addressed or downplayed in typical yaoi fashion??? would be nice if there’s some groveling involved since the gaslighting from jaehee in the first few chapters is just ick. normally, i’m desensitized to the dub/non-con trend of this genre, but i think i’m finally getting sick of it so i gotta know
Spoiler:
Depends how far you want it to be addressed to be ok with it. They knew each other before in highschool and both like each other at the beginning of the story, one just doesn't want to admit it. Basically it's only addressed as the other guy knowing he's attracted to him but hiding it the whole time.
Hope that made sense.

there are times when hohyun has the survival instincts of a fart. plus it got annoying when they repeatedly encountered the same kind of cowardly, entitled assholes. didn’t feel much chemistry between the mcs either. the resolution happened so fast that everything in season 1 felt like a fever dream… i wasn’t really invested, but i also didn’t hate it
