ohh now that u mentioned it i cant unsee the resemblance anymore. i also think the main couples rs would be soooo similar to cirrus x skylar dynamic. what i mean is the red flag x red flag trope (which is my fav btw) i read some spoilers and i feel like mc could be my new fav mc if the writing is done as right as litc or cm.
since youve mentioned cirrus. id like to rant how hes like soohyun as well. the obsession the thought process the only difference is how while soohyun would do ANYTHING to get what he wants this mc is still prioritizing his image? at school sth i just know soohyun doesnt care bcos he sees and cares abt nth but himself and his goals (which has everything to do with eunsung) but ofc who knows he might be like that when he actually starts liking the ml
I know your hyped up for this and I agree with you 100% but knowing the author I'd be shocked if they manage to capture a quarter of the deep nuances in litc or make characters that are half as consistent and well written as checkmate, so don't expect too much buddy i feel like this will start out great and fizzle out into nonsensical writing or that's just the pessimist in me
Wait I didn't mean the actual author btw, i meant the manhwa adaptation cuz this was originally a novel, and I've yet to see a manhwa adaptation that didn't just completely butcher the novel. Always read the novel for the better experience, MC is wayyy more obsessive in it

misfortune isnt a pass to do anything. that applies to ilmi and sora. i just cant relate to anyone sympathizing with ilmi no matter how hard i try to be openminded. id rather get bullied openly than be friends with her. as for sora, its always the ones who victimizes themselves on a regular basis that r the worst people u could meet. and may this type of friend group (excluding the two main couples) never find me.
another frustratng thing is how people r constantly asking for less drama and more romance. trust me i love minu and onyu but jesus for me i came for the drama and id rather have the story progress than see continuous chapters of flirting. dont get me wrong. like i said i love the couple and its smart of the author to add a breath of fresh air to the constant drama happening. i wouldnt have the story any other way at all
i love this. almost dropped at the earlier chapters but some cmts kept me going and gosh the angst is so well written. never thought id find another angst as good as lost in the cloud. this def deserves more good ratings. also the mental instability of both main characters is too well written esp the ml

Nah Ilay's crazier. Among the three, he's the only one who was born insane while both Caesar and Zhenya turned out "bad" because of their childhoods. He also gets crazier as the story progresses but the manhwa isn't there yet... while Zhenya turns into [redacted] and becomes all lovey-dovey and Caesar will calm down.

Yh that corpse part of Caesar is why I put ilay on top of the list. It just creeped me out. (At least ilay was just talk) I’ve read all the passion novels esp suite but haven’t read the other two yet. I’ve tried CA but the SA was so much worse in the novel. For me ilay is still greener (at least as green as he can manage lol) but that’s just my personal preference bcos he’s so down bad for taeui in the later novels
But considering childhood trauma, yh I agree with Caesar being the best cos at least he has reasons for his - whatever he is now. Zhenyas like ilay tho. No traumatic experiences. Kinda like isagi from blue lock. But zhenya scares me the most somehow. I think that’s cos he actually enjoys seeing despair on ppl/ animals while ilay is just apathetic
