Mana and Nea are brothers twins to be exact but they were chosen as the 14th apostle and that means one body so Mana ate Nea or killed him and he became crazy and decided that they never really existed and the Earl was born but in the process Mana through his heart out to become earl but Nea is back (this is why the earl looks for the heart) and the rest is confusing like the memories f Allen walker or who he really is cause he should be an old man right?
They used to be one entity, but they ended up separating and becoming two. Katarina(i think that was her name) named them and brought them up as brothers. We still don't know the reason or what prompted Mana to kill Nea and devour him. We are also still not sure who the "Mana" that raised Allen is but it seems that Nea had met Allen before killing that Mana and being cursed. It seems he also met him again when Allen was older; Nea seemed to have been injured then and Allen had told him to "Serve him, and that he would keep his memories hidden and preserve them until he awakened again. But Allen doesn't remember and also seems to be getting younger(it might have to do with the innocence it seems). The new earl destroyed the Mana then, that seemed to have been him, and erased his memories of Mana and Nea because they were "getting in the way of his plans". Plans to destroy the heart, who also seems to be the master of Apocryphos. Apocryphos is after Allen to try and become one with him.
