I think the intent in the coke scene is not to show that hansol is freed from his sin, but that despite him having committed many sins for the sake of receiving love or at least approval from the only family he has, that he still has the right and the choice to live and to do that for himself for once without being desperate for love and approval. He never did that ever and he probbably always had the threat of being killed by his father dangling above him. I think he should end up living a normal life and experience the normal boring ways of life. I wouldn't call this a redemption because he could never be freed from his sins, but just a portrayal that overyone has a right to live, even if they're a criminal. Death as punishment or prevention for further crimes should only be the last resort and I do think it would be the right choice for the doctor, but other than his ability to steal the matching rates of guides hansol is just a normal civilian. Without that ability he could be treated like any "middle" (non guide or esper) criminal.
He had to kill to get other guides’ esper matchings. He chose to kill them. He laughed when he killed them. Feel bad for him all you want, but if there is to be any justice for the people whose life he destroyed, he sure can’t get to “live a normal life”. He doesn’t deserve that. He enjoyed what he did. He’s only sad now because things ended up backfiring on him.
With a normal life I meant not that he is to walk free of sin but that he should be treated like a civilian, espeacially when it comes to the law. Like a normal person. In my addition I literally said he should be trialed for his crimes (like normal people are). He shouldn't be treated like he's speacial so that he gets a free pass. I don't pity him, I just have a moral system where death isn't (and never should be) a punishment.
I read the novel years ago but never finished, crazy how they're already at the reunion in the manhwa
For some reason reading this feels... frustrating... very much so... even more knowing spoilers of ml and ending... and tbh... the art is very inconsistent... the backgrounds ar gorgeous, the faces and upper bodies are pretty enough... but waist down the quality suddenly leaps from a cliff... to the point it feels drawn by 2 different people... I dropped this a couple times... but keep being baited by the cover...
