It looked like more of a strong defense than an attack. The theatre master was just disoriented and confused because he saw weird spoilers of the novel before being mentally kicked out. It seems it was involuntary though.
Yeah, it is a defense skill of sorts. Also, the text wasn't any spoiler, he was just reading everything that Dokja experienced so far as a wall of text that overwhelmed him. The theater master's skill did work sucessfully at first before suddenly the forthwall activated and cancelled out his skill causing both him and Dokja to be confused
