Ah yes. It has been hinted, it is both. He doesn't trust this sunbae and wanted to know exactly how much soohyun has told him about the situation, but also because soohyun has told him that he had the sunbae bite his neck before he went to see park mun-seop...also in the latest chapters, eunsung was quite cleverly calling out minseok for his obsession over soohyun (there was a lot of tension between them) as rivals of course.
Soohyun was just upset at sunbae because he was taking his place (in his eyes) by being "useful" to eunsung. (Also because he was jealous that eunsung was relying on someone other than him)

Ah, it hasn't occured before in the story. (The keychain) You're right. However, soohyun has mentioned that he doesn't want to eunsung to enter his house because it is a place that is full of things that has traces of his "pathetic past self" ...so, uhm, the box contained the keychain, a diary, and a glasses case (he didn't throw away his old glasses it seems) and he is unable to let go of his past (like eunsung also realized when he saw the same mechanical pencil from their high school days that's soohyun still uses) the korean checkmate fandom on twitter is theorizing that it could be a gift from soohyun's younger sister (that was in the flashback) or it could probably something related to eunsung haha...most probably that though we don't know yet.
Soohyun was solemn when looking at it because he hates reminders of his past but he can't move past it...let's hope eunsung can pull him out of his hatred of those days or make up for it somehow hahaha

I don't know what they thought when they first decided to make this story Shounen Ai, especially when it contains rape, blackmail, humiliation and the rest of the unpleasant things. I mean, they had much more explicit and stupid manhwas than this one.
Do not get me wrong, it is not all about hot stuff, but as you said they censured the text, which immediately soften the story which is not and it should not be. The story is a harsh reality that happens in the world, currently in my country, so people should be aware of sick perverts all around and what they do. This is such a well written real-life story with a flawless art, and it should not be cut in any way.
Can't wait to see more what happened and what will happen. It's so good! They will heal each other wounds in future, because both of them are damaged by people around them.

Exactly. I can understand that people may have complaints due to the nature of the story but in all honesty, they need to suck it up or stop reading. This isn’t like the rest of the bls where rape, blackmail and the humiliation isn’t for nothing. Those unpleasant things have true purpose to the overall story which makes it that much more exciting. This story needs those aspects for the big picture but some people aren’t thinking that far. Another thing that I love is the name, ‘checkmate’. The author has made it very clear that our mc is a strategist and has really designed the characters similar to chess pieces. I’d go on but it’ll be too long haha

Another quick question, in the first part of the car sex scene (don't think you need this info haha since it seems like you remember most of the storyline), when Soohyun bumped his head inside the car, Eunsung had the same expression as the last panel of the two/three? previous chapter when Soohyun save him from getting punched - that starry eyed fall in love eyes. It just doesn't seem fitting given the situation that he had the same expression when Soohyun hurt himself. I like to get your opinion again sifu ~~

I think I'm just too invested in the story and have all sorts of predictions including Eunsung inflicting some sort of pain to Soohyun during sex haha. Because in the previous few panels before that, Eunsung said something about wanting to keep seeing Soohyun cry but retracted them soon after but I be wildin' lol. That's why I've been looking into it haha and thought that Eunsung wears the falling in love expression though it could be worried expression as well. No, I don't think that theory holds up I'm sorry ;_; it's quite the opposite. In the beginning of the car sex scene, soohyun tells him to stop with the "preparation" and get on with it (he was feeling embarrassed) and eunsung told him it'd be painful for him if he doesn't do it properly, and then he kisses him to be patient. He doesn't force soohyun into anything to make him cry but he does remark that soohyun cries everytime they have sex, but he is someone who cannot cry even when he wants to...but he stops midway and says "nevermind, forget what I just said. (Cancel my words, literally, hahaha he's cute)
When soohyun is on top of him, to prevent him from finding out about the stalker monitoring them, he does tease him a lot (he likes running his hands on soohyun's body, and sucking his chest (which soohyun hates because it's painful) without knowing if soohyun actually dislikes it lolol, and also everything he did, was so it would be less painful for him, but he ended up overdoing it haahhaaha just to have an excuse to drop soohyun home since he'd be too tired lololol

"Twisted love" is the right description yes. It's very tan-nim's style haha. The author is keen on writing unconventional relationships. But being twisted, I'd say that it's coming across as "unhealthy and obsession" only because the relationship is unclear - neither soohyun understands his desires, nor does anyone else but eunsung can see it of course. In every relationship, there is a desire to have the other person recognize you as an equal and worthy, but between these two, no interaction happened in high school (it was unrequited) ffs they made eye contact for the first time on graduation day (soohyun was devastated to realize that their relationship was one where their eyes would meet only if eunsung would look at him first - that's how it happened on graduation day, eunsung looked at him on a whim and soohyun didn't look away first so their eyes met) but I think soohyun is thinking wrong...eunsung was definitely looking at him a lot and noticing a lot about him.
Unlike everyone who was surrounding him back then, who liked and complimented him, and cursed soohyun, soohyun obviously admired him but unlike others never tries actually talking or surrounding him. Eunsung might've been intrigued by that. Also everytime others tried to bully or badmouth soohyun, eunsung told them to shut up and tried to change the topic but soohyun didn't notice it hehehe

As for eunsung, he is definitely a genius. But like a saying goes in English I think "You cant be wise and be in love at the same time" hahaha and in the next chapter here, you'll see. Hahaha~~ so actually both of them are realizing that they don't actually don't know each other completely like they though...especially soohyun in the latest chapters. He trusts him genuinely to be on his side, but he still can't trust him to open up to him and tell him everything. Actually the rape scene, I think to some extent eunsung did it so soohyun would stay away from him and this whole munseop mess. The relationship is twisted I guess in the extremities Soohyun is willing to go for Eunsung but if its only between them, the relationship can be quite healthy once everything clears up owing to the fact that Eunsung actually reciprocates - since high school at that haha.
