more than 100 chapters into the novel and their relationship gets a lot better, they really care for each other, but the "Maxi is a sheltered/pampered noble lady" misunderstanding is still going; she's afraid of "let him down" for not being the proper lady he thought she was (since she wasn't really taught anything abt how to be a noble lady) and doesn't clear the misunderstanding; due to the abuse and negligence Maxi has really low self-esteem and lacks confidence, she makes small progress but it takes so little to crumble down her hard earned confidence. So i just wanted to tell y'all that to enjoy this one you'll need patience, it's a beautiful story about slowly growing out of one's past. Sometimes throughout the story Maxi' lack of confidence and indecisiveness can be annoying but she's a scarred soul, and even though it's difficult for her she's trying. Also the male lead is brute, but I think he really loves her, the way he acts is partially due to his rough nature but the misunderstanding also plays a big part. Anyways, if you plan to stick to this one, be patient (づ￣ ³￣)づ
I read the novel since last night and done now. All the 106 chapters so amazing. Yeah I hope that the issue that Maxi is keeping her real situation at the Croix castle will be clear, since Riftan said he doesn't like lies. Our dear Maxi is changing for the better. so a LOT of things happen: Penelope raises the affection of every character quite a lot, the duke is acting like a doting father now, she also gets some good reputation (but there are still people talking shit abt her); she gets into an adventure with the crown prince and they get a better relationship, she feel some type of way when she's with him but can't really grasp her feelings; the wizard was investigating a kind of cult that kidnap people, especially children, with mana and kills them to use their power so they can bring back their 'goddess' and destroy the world basically; he suspects Penelope of being involved with this cult and end up testing her; she gets kinda shocked and hurt because she thought their relationship was good; the cult kidnap one of the children the wizard takes care, he and Penelope go after them to save the kid; they get to the place where the cult make their sacrifices and there find the crown prince who was also investigating this cult; they see that there is a woman in there and the followers call her goddess, she's the one who "eats" the mana of the people; the woman is totally covered by a mask and a hood so they can't see her; (when there is a mission the game gives Penelope some power so she can complete the quests); she uses the power to attack the bad people, she injuries the goddess, the woman's mask and hood fall and Penelope sees LIGHT PINK HAIR and BLUE EYES, yep just like the game's protagonist; the woman is covering her face with her hands so she can't be sure of her identity and decides to believe that it's just a coincidence, like no way that evil being is the cute and pure game protagonist... Right??; the goddess escapes; a lot of things happen (really it's a LOT so i cant detail everything) and Penelope keeps raising iklies' affection, she wants to get his end, get out of the game and go back to her life in the 'real world'; the crown prince keeps flirting with her; at his birthday party he asks her to date him, she feels some type of way and asks him if he loves her; he says that it's not love but it's best for the both of them to be together, it's for their best interest (in my opinion he just doesn't understand his feelings, it looks to me that he likes her); she gets really depressed 'cause even though she didn't admit it Penelope has probably fallen in love with him; she decides to forget everything and keep the focus on iklies whose affection is already at 90+; here comes the sad part: 5 days before her 18th birthday the protagonist comes back and the one who brought her was none other than IKLIES; Penelope gets shocked, his affection was so high, she did so much for him and he brought the protagonist home like?? Doesn't make sense; he says that the duke family did a lot for him and so he paid them back by bringing their lost daughter/sister home; Penelope gets mad, she was the one who did everything for him, not the duke's family, she starts screaming at him and attempt to slap his face but it's stopped by the duke and his sons, she then realizes that everyone is looking at her with disapproving eyes while she "throws a tantrum" like the original Penelope usually did while the pure protagonist looks at her like she's about to cry; the duke tells her to go to her room, Penelope calms down and decide that she needs to talk to iklies, she can't give up now, she was so close to end this.
And now im waiting for the next chapter such a cliffhanger(╯°Д °)╯╧╧

Ikr I got so pissed. The prince isn't familiar with emotions, especially love, due to how he lived and so he fucked everything up. The wizard suspected her, he sees later that she didn't have anything to do with the cult and felt bad abt it and apologized but honestly im still bitter with him (even tho it looks like he also has some feelings towards Penelope). The two brothers get on my nerves, sometimes there's a few sweet moments where they show that they care abt Penelope but them soon after they go back to being dicks. And don't even get me started with iklies
