I get that their mutual friend is looking out for the seme, but saying "break up with him" is not right. First of all, It's disloyal to the uke, who he claimed to care about. This author was unfairly accused by Old Xian fans of plagiarism. They literally harassed the author into dropping this story. And since I have not been able to find any other work from the author in TWO YEARS, it looks like they stopped working altogether. But what there is of the story is really good, worth reading!

I know, right?! Just because the art looks alike doesn't make it plagiarism. The stories are completely different. Besides, once an art style becomes popular, they all tend to be very similar, like the art on the wuxian stories.
i mean old xian has a super unique and distinct art style. Its like their trademark. When i first saw this i thought old xian made it because the art style is literally exactly the same. So i mean old xian had the right to complain.
She didn't. She never complained. Her fans did. Not to mention that most Manhua art style looks the same. Does that mean that every manhua artist has plagiarized the first Manhua artist? The art might be similar, but the stories are nothing alike.
but the "Normal" manga art style is super generic. Old xian has a EXTREAMLY uniqe art style. Even if the story is different this author 100% based their art off of old xian. It would have been a different story if this author referenced old xian but they didnt. Thats plagiarism.

Manga/manhua/manhwa is not like regular art. It is a two part component. It consists of art as well as telling a story. This author's art does look similar to Old Xian's, but so what, authors draw inspiration from each other all the time. Plus like I said, their writing styles are completely different. If this author was drawing EXACTLY like Old Xian and their stories were even remotely similar, then it would be plagiarism. And if it had been plagiarism, then why did Old Xian herself, or her publishers for that matter, never take legal action?
that is true, but im just saying that i also thought this was old xian's work when i first read this. If old xian themself didnt say anything then its fine? I mean people online love hating for no reason so this author prob should have seen it coming.
Did you read the chapter where this author clearly has a mental breakdown about this? Are you seriously saying that they deserved to have their career and life, really, ruined the way they did just because a bunch of Old Xian's fans made the decision on their own that this author plagiarized? I really like this story and have tried re reading it. But every time I think about that terrible chapter where the author has their breakdown, I just feel so horrible for them that I can't even read any of the story. Accusing someone of plagiarism is a very grave matter that can literally ruin someone's career. It is not something that should be thrown around so lightly. Specially when it has not even been proven. As readers we are entitled to our opinion, of course. But these people didn't give their opinions, they ACCUSED until they literally ruined this author's life. Two very different things.
Im aware of that, its pretty messed up that they harassed the author to the point of quitting entirely.
If it's like that then people should be harassing and complaining to even artist of Nan Hao and Shang Feng cuz the art style is similar to Old Xian infact the Manhua art can be similar but it's not like they are stealing the story and altogether everything, that's just absurd to blame someone of things they are innocent of
