Yup, and it all started because a coai fan was too excited about the scene at an early screening of the movie that they leaked about it in the chinese social forums, got spread around like a rumor, after that the whole outrage, the debates on whether it was true, the unnecessarily dramatic heartbreak, calling haibara a homewrecker for ruining their ship, campaign to sunk the movie earnings by not going, death threats, even destroying their merch. The whole situation was crazy. That didn't stop the main home audience, japanese fans since there were no crazy reactions from them compare to the chinese fans, they all seem fine with the issue and watched the movie anyway. The movie did ok in other countries as well. When your watch the movie yourself, you realize It wasnt worth going apes around it, it was just a minor scene and not romantic since its cpr, cause they were underwater. The ran haibara kiss tho had little reaction with the fans tho they did show their dislike about it, the kiss was just a form of giving back to where it belongs.

First of all: whichever the reason may be, it's fucking crazy getting angry and threaten people for a few pixels... Seriously, get yourself a life...

Second of all: we Coai/Shinshio shippers are constantly reminded that they will never be a thing, Shinran is officially canon since very long... We just survive with the few crumbles we gets feed with just to make a little hype and nothing more. So, I wanna tell these people to stay put and let us enjoy these few Coai moments T^T

Agreed, All ships, whether they're canon or not should be able to co-exist within the communities, let us have our moments of enjoyment, who cares if it doesnt align with canon, if it bring us joy and doesnt hurt anyone, people shouldn't act like they own the place and threaten others who deviate their status quo. Shipping aside, lets all just enjoy the show.

Doing all that was unnecessary but I understand why. I've waited literally 20 years for Shinichi and Ran to be together. The only reason I still keep up with Detective Conan was for the mystery and Shinichi to return to Ran. I think CoAi shipper should just write their own fics to satisfy themselves lol. Besides, Ai respect Ran too much to ruin her relationship with him. And Shinichi is too in love with Ran. I never understood CoAi shipper. No hate tho (=・ω・=)

As a matter of fact, wo DO read and write our own CoAi fanfictions to satisfy ourselves, because it's also the only thing we can enjoy.
However, I think threatening people for an ambiguous CoAi scene is damn crazy.

Ps. I've been a fan of DC for enough time to understand that Shinichi and Shiho have waaay better chemistry than Shinichi and Ran. You may not "understand us CoAi shippers" but we definitely have enough reasons for thinking that Shiho is a better match than Ran

Anyway, I personally think that Ran is a very basic character, quite plain and with very little personality. Just see her as a good wifey who waits for her husband to come back home. In my opinion, she won't be able to give Shinichi right support he needs. Shinichi is a very dynamic person, who constantly needs new challenges that can incite him to give his best and surpass anything. That person can only be Shiho, who always teases, incites and challrnges him; at the same time she can support and sustain him just the same.
What I'm trying to say is that with Ran, Shinichi will feel mentally restricted, while with Shiho he will always be challenged

But yeah, I guess I can sort of understand the ship now that you've explained it. However, I personally think Shinichi is challenged enough. He constantly solve problems around him and even have friends like Heiji and the Detective Boys to keep him engage. Ran is the one who keeps him grounded and down-to-earth. Kinda like opposite attracts. Also I don't agree that Ran's plain and has little personality. I think people tend to not notice her other traits as her kind and caring side always takes the forefront. But she's much more than that. She's shown several times how she would risk her life to save someone. In a way, Shinichi and Ran are similar. Ran is dumb for waiting for Shinichi to return. And Shinichi is as much of an idiot for risking his life and everyone around him just to be with Ran.

I hope you get more CoAi scenes despite the hate. I know Haibara's VA is pushing for CoAi to be a thing just for the CoAi shippers haha.

Honestly, there was a time I was a ShinRan shipper...but after noticing how Shinichi and Shiho

Sorry, I mis-clicked before lol

Anyway, how I was trying to write, there was a time I was a ShinRan shipper too... but after noticing how Shinichi and Shiho started to get to know each other better, how they started to grow gradually close, I changed my mind. The fact that they share this secret, the fact that Shinichi doesn't need to explain anything to Shiho as she understands him by a glance, without even talking, made me realize how they are a good match. I can picture a future in which Shiho helps Shinichi solve difficult cases, how they cooperate to reach the solution.
Reading a few good written fanfiction made me realize how the relationship between Shinichi and Shiho is a more deeper, mature and intimate one. Ran is the sun, she represents the light and warmth. She depicts innocence, ingenuity and a childlike memory. Shiho is the moon, she is dark, mystery and temptation. She depicts passion, maturity and intimacy. Taking into consideration Shinichi's attitude, in my opionion, growing up he is bound to long for someone like Shiho.
It's really hard to see how Gosho created such a perfect couple and deciding not to give a shit about it in the end...I mean, I am perfectly aware that ShinRan will be endgame, they have been since chapter 1...but I still have hope for ShinShiho (=・ω・=)

These are all best friend material to be honest.. After reading many stories and watching people I've realized that the best chemistry comes from besties.. Of course they can become a couple too but more often than not the people who're really different from each other are the ones who end up together.. Realistically speaking. But I also find CoAi pairing pretty cute. Ai-chan is such a tsundere ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
