I think he Kusaka does love Mikuriya in his own way and it shows a lot especially in this chapter when he shuts everyone up when he visits his boyfriend's workplace. But I understand what you mean too, Kusaka should stop acting that way and be himself because it clearly shows that Mikuriya is still with you because he loves him for him, not just for his face.

I wonder why authors, especially if they're women themselves, bother to write such idiotic female characters in their stories. Why not write a supportive one? No. I think they're too boring. There's one in every story, but they're all devoid of personality or reasons to be the way they are. Even the cliché love rivals usually get one arc that explains their motives and gives them a bit of personality, even though they're not part of the couple and thus uneeded for the romance. What I'm saying is that there's no need to portray them as mindless idiots. If you need drama it's actually better to invest in both sides, if not you just get mildly annoyed at one and that's it which is not how you write a compelling antagonist. Plus I don't think the girl here is causing drama or any tense moments, I mean everyone knows she ain't got a chance and dude's gay. No one is worried about her, she's just annoying the readers. So I guess this type of charcters fails at its own purpose too.
