It was in chapter 1 or 2 ig? It was mentioned that Sylvia was banished because she insulted Aileen at their engagement ceremony. It was never explicitly mentioned but even if the ML was the crown prince, Aileen and him couldn't have gotten engaged if the Duke didn't give his approval.
