Not only here but in their previous work too "To take an Enemy's heart" the only mother (no spoiler) we saw from the beginning, was a piece of garbage of a mother and the same goes here! Based on the fact that when one writes stories they put some shades of the reality that surrounds them in it,my supposition is that the author does not have a good relationship with their mother.
