Can someone explain the glass switch cup to me im stupid

If I understand it correctly Penelope had bought poison long ago to kill herself with in the middle of her coming of age ceremony as a last fuck you and to make it look like Yvonne poisoned her but she kept left it in a drawer in her room so when the necklace shined showing that there is danger nearby she realized that the poison was put into Yvonne’s cup to make it look like Penelope is a villain so she said someone switched our cups because that was what she was originally planning to do. Hope I explained it well (and I could of misunderstood so if I did someone do inform)

Ik ppl say she’s immature and selfish and they’re not wrong, but I really liked reading about a more selfish fl whose strongest instinct is self preservation over anything else. U could say she’s stringing people along but no one around her is unaware of what she’s like and what she wants from them, and maybe even taking advantage of that. They, like her, are also unable do what’s healthy for them and move on because they were so important to each other when they were young and vulnerable. The part where she says something like “I can’t go forward and I can’t go back so I’ll just stay where I am like I always have” like oof I actually felt that one so bad. It’s a more shallow comic but it’s moments of depth rlly punch a pack.

I honestly don't find her selfish, she's just not good with relationships, and its due to her past trauma that she hasn't had a proper chance to tell to anyone or really heal. She's so afraid of being abandonded, while struggling with an identity that she thinks she doesn't belong to, it just to me, feels like a really realistic take and I empathize with her a lot.
I think they’ll be alright
