This had potential, and the artstyle is really good but the raping and torturing rained it. I'm dropping this

Oh, I forgot about the first chapter. I didn't show it between the mc/ml though, it just showed rough sex between them. I get dropping it for that and the group assualt/torture scene (I had to go back and check chapter one) , not sure why so many stories have rape in it now or why they make it so detailed/graphic. I get we shouldn't gloss over such topics bc it's a reality but I also don't think it needs to be shown in such detail. People understand without that.

Like at what point does it cross a line? How does someone determine if its really for "character development" or to express how awful/bad a character really had it, you know? Idk, sometimes I can stomach reading a story with graphic scenes if theyre handled well but a lot of times it just seems like shock value or kink/fetish feeding (like people who love noncon/consensual noncon, extremely rough sex, humiliation, etc). There are definitely quite a few yaoi's (and other genres) that do not handle rape/SA well at all and some that are just straight up disgusting (like rape/SA between the ml/mc thats almost never addressed and glossed over/pairing up a victim with their rapist happens a lot too, etc)

Probably because many straight romance and BL writers are women.
Women writers and readers feel uncomfortable seeing woman being assaulted like that. Something about relatability and many MCs being a y/n for readers
With BL, they can go all out. Because female readers don't make the MC their y/n. They see many of these characters in a more sexual light
Its the same with straight hentai or manhwa porn made by men. It often includes rape and assault towards women but not men.
The End... lmao
