There is a HUGE issue with people filming others without their consent for silly reasons just to humiliate them in front of millions of people online and potentially getting harassed. Just for dressing a certain way, or doing/being something completely harmless that apparently some folks have a problem with. I really wish there were actual laws about this

I've heard stories of that and it's so sad that many young girls and ladies end up in this type of scenarios and, worse, it's caused by their own family. That's just so fucked up. To my understanding, arranged marriage just means parents will find a potential date/partner for their adult child, but it is up to the adult child to make a decision whether or not they'll go through with it or not. An arranged marriage becomes forced when the parents pressure their children to be in union with the person they pick and have no final say on the matter. I think your friend's marriage was, unfortunately, a forced one but passed off as an "arranged marriage" to make it sound palatable and less inhumane for onlookers.
Also, never say never. As long as your friend is alive and breathing, there will always be a chance for her and her child to be free from her abusers (may they burn in hell for the things they've done btw). Don't let her lose hope.

Let me add that it could have been placed in the earlier chapters and the author could have expounded this scene and build the rest of the story from there so it would make more sense and the choices of the characters more understandable yk?
