Worst part is this is exactly how rumors happen irl too. I went to high school with this one girl who had a pretty bad reputation but wasn't rude to me and we shared a couple classes so we chatted sometimes. She was a teen mom and during our CNA class she confided in some classmates about her boyfriend who works construction and goes to school trying to join the army. She was asking if she was being too much by wanting him to stay in the state since their child was only a year old, etc etc. Anyways fast forward to a week later and I hear a new rumor (at least to me since I wasn't usually involved in gossip) about her going around school saying that her boyfriend is a middle schooler, how she's some type of degenerate and a pedophile, and all this bullshit. The people who I heard the rumor from? Our CNA classmates! I told them "what do you mean? X confided in us about her bf working construction and said he was thinking of going to the military next year. Do you really think they'd hire an underage child to do construction? What about joining the military? Is a middle schooler going to join the military? No. I didn’t think so" and everyone tried to laugh it off and asked why I was defending her when we weren't even that close. It's okay if people dislike her for her poor decisions (because she definitely wasn't a saint and did make some wrong choices) but to shit on someone for something they didn't even do pissed me off more than anything. Always search for the truth yourself and never mindlessly believe another's words.
P.S. her bf did have a baby face (and some of our classmates met him at one of our study sessions) but even then from the context clues they should've been able to figure out that the rumors were false.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MAMY YEARS I WAITED AND YOURE TELLING ME IT'S STILL NOT ENOUGH TO SEE HIS FACE?!?!?! (╯TДT)╯╧╧
